Free Music Notes for You Are FreeFree Music Review: a beautiful album Hit: 5 Stars
this album is simply beautiful. it's been a long while since cat power has released an album of original songs, but this one certainly delivers. with such a beautiful voice, and simple, but sweet melodies, cat power has crafted an album of wonderful and memorable music. You are Free isn't too much of a deviation from previous cat power albums, but the album is so enjoyable to listen to that its predictability isn't a detraction, and actually makes the album that much more immediately likeable.
Free Music Review: Mindblowing Hit: 5 Stars
Chan Marshall manages to write simple, beautiful songs played on a guitar or piano, sometimes accompanied by other instruments, that come off as completely original. I honestly don't know how she does it. She has a unique, chalky voice that seems fragile and childlike. Not a lot of music I've heard has affected me so profoundly on an emotional level. Unlike her previous albums, every song on here is great and if you're new to her music, this is the one to start out with.
Free Music Review: The best Cat Power album yet! Hit: 5 Stars
This album is nearly perfect. By far the best Cat Power album...haunting, emotional, beautiful and stunning. Chan Marshall just keeps getting better and better. Highlights, "Good Woman" and "Half of You" are brilliant. The whole album flows like fine wine under a cool moonlite sky. Stars shoot across with shimmering beauty while Chan strums and pulls at your heartstrings. What an accomplishment this album is!Best album of 2003 thus far!
Free Music Review: A Truly Amazing Album Hit: 5 Stars
This album is truly amazing. I can listen to it over and over again without ever getting bored. Up until last week, I had never even heard of Cat Power. When I came across the song He War online, I knew I just had to have this album. I think every song on the album is wonderful. If I had to choose two favorites they would be He War and I Don't Blame. In my opinion, this album is a must have for music lovers everywhere.
Free Music Review: I love everything about it. Hit: 5 Stars
Excellent record. Great use of imagery and instruments, and Chan's voice goes great with her sound. It may take one or two listens to really hear the genious of some of these songs, but this album has many songs that in a few years will be Cat Power classics (He War, Speak For Me, Maybe Not, I Don't Blame You) It's just a really amazing album all around. And I really love the album art/packaging as well. Beautiful.
