i grew up hearing Cat Steven's amazing album, "Tea for the Tillerman" but i never really got into him until last year when my aunts boyfriend gave me a bunch or records and one happened to be "Tea for the Tillerman" i listened to it and relized what i had been hearing as a kid. It was one of the greatest albums of all time! Then i saw "Harold and Maude" which is my favorite movie, which features all Cat songs. i fell in love with his music. i went to a thrift store and found "Teaser and the fire cat" on vinyl. i liked it as well, though not as much as "Tea for the Tillerman." then the other day i bought "Mona Bone Jakon." i really like it, it is my 2nd favorite album of Cat's. but i do have one question:
WHAT DOES MONA BONE JAKON MEAN!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I first discovered Cat Stevens true talent from watching Harold And Maude. His music fits the movie quite well. I bought the cd because I liked the songs from the movie. This is a great album. The songs are so pure and simple. They are great feel-good songs. It sounds like Peter Gabriel sings in the background on 'Lady D'Arbanville', although it doesn't say on the album. It does say however that he plays the flute in 'Katmandu'. This album was made back when music wasn't so complicated. It kind of reminds me of the way Nick Drake makes his music, simple yet perfect. Too bad I am barely discovering Cat Stevens now after all this time. Because of this album, though, I am planning on buying more from this amazing artist.Free Music Review: Cat's Best.

This is as good as it gets, album wise. In my mind "Tillerman.." doesn't even reach this height of gorgeous song writing, and insightful lyrics. My favorite slow songs on the record "Katmandu" and "Lilywhite" are among the most poetic songs I've ever heard. Definetely among the best on the album. You can tell that Cat had just gone through a significant change in his life, this album just feels new and fresh. It is certainly a wonderful precurser for one of the most influential albums in the history of music, "Tea for the Tillerman".Free Music Review: At the same level as TFTT and T&TFC

As my heading states, Cat Stevens' Mona Bone Jakon is just as good as the following albums that made him a superstar, Tea For The Tillerman and Teaser & The Firecat.This album marks Cat's first foray into more introspectical, stripped down, more honest tunes from his older "poppy" string driven tunes of the late 60s.
The album contains the popular opening tune Lady d'Arbanville, as well as the classic "I Think I See The Light".
Other standouts on the album is my personal favorites: Katmandu, Trouble, and Lillywhite.
Superb beginning of a string of great albums.

I would like people that have never heard much of this man to get this cd. I have to be honest the best song, ( in my opinon is "Trouble.") One of the most intense, haunting songs you will ever hear!!!. None of his new greatest hits albums contian this song. Why, I really do not know. The whole cd is fantasic!! I just want more people to hear this particular song, because many of my friends never have. Like Dylan, (but with a better voice) Cat wrote from very deep in his mind and soul.
