Free Music Review: Get past Yusaf's current dogma for a look at a classic.

I've heard so much weird stuff about Cat "Yusaf Islam" Stevens (or Yusaf "Cat Stevens" Islam) that it's sometimes hard to look past the man's current religion or dogma and just listen to or appreciate his past work. But this is a classic album and people are missing out if they don't give it a chance. I've heard some crazy stuff like Cat/Yusaf gives money to Osami bin Laden or whatever; but when you listen to "Tea for the Tillerman" it helps you realize that good music is eternal and transcends man's invented religious ideology. There's a lot to Cat's music besides the tunes you'd get on a "greatest hits" compilation and this is a good place to start. I really like "Numbers" but haven't found it on CD so hopefully it will be reissued someday.Free Music Review: One of my all time favorites

I had this album on a cassette that was copied from a album, needless to say, it lacked quality, but it still was my favorite album while I was growing up, and it sat right beside my early Metallica and Anthrax (along with Seals and Croft's Greatest Hits), sticking out like a sore thumb as most reviewers have said (except I am younger). I can't wait to get this version on CD, I've been listening to it online fom a download site all this time, but have decided to re-add it back into my collection. I've missed it sorely. Highly recommended for EVERYONE! Doesn't matter what genre you normally listen to, this album is THAT good! Cat's voice has a unique sound and I love his guitar style, powerful "happy music" (compared to the Pantera, Tool, and Megadeth I listen to now).Free Music Review: Never could I rate it any less

To me, I feel so close to Cat Stevens as I listen to his peaceful music. I listen to the words he sings, and I can't help but feel like I've known him my whole life- I almost feel as close to his music as I do to my own father. Now I understand if your reaction to all of that is, "What the hell? Who is this psycho-chick?". Get to know this album well; buy it, listen to it, listen to it again, listen to it again, and so on until you can memorize a bit of the lyrics. Then[say that with emphasis] read what I have to say about Cat Stevens over. By the end of this assignment, being that you dared to take it on, you will feel completely nourished. Word.

Its hard to say that this is Cat's best album since they are all so good. If you like Cat and don't have this one you ought to pick up this newly remastered version. It has some great songs not included on the Greatest Hits albums like "Longer Boats", "Sad Lisa", "Miles From Nowhere", "Tea for the Tillerman" and "Into White". These are wonderful songs and should not be missed, of course, the rest of the songs are pure Cat Stevens classics. I hear Yusuf Islam (Cat) may be picking up his guitar once again. About time, Cat, think of all the great songs we've missed out on.Free Music Review: A true work of art

I can not think of one song on this album that i do not love or have lyrics that do not qualify as great poetry on their own! Ironically the weakest song of the bunch is "Wild World" which most people associate Cat with. "Father and Son" is a song that cannot be equaled, "Longer Boats" is another great example, "On the Road to Find Out" and "Miles from nowhere" reflect Cats spiritual quest...."Where Do the Childern Play" and "Tea For The Tillerman" are a great look at childhood innocence.....an over all great work of art.....
