I wasn't initially a big CeCe Winan fan at first, and my policy for buying record is that I have to like at least three singles in order for me to buy a whole album. And boy was I in for a surprise. I came across 3 of the songs, not knowing that 2 of them were CeCe Winans songs. It just didn't sound like her style of singing TO ME when I initially heard the songs. But when I heard the third song, my favorite cut "I AM" and the radio announcer say it was CeCe, I was a beliver then!!! All through the summer of '98, that is all I was pumping in my car, and my brother who wasn't saved at the time, jumped on it. It took me almost a whole month before I got off the first side of the tapes because the songs were so uplifting. CeCe's voice soars through the cuts. The songs just speaks of the high and lows of living a saved life. The real feelings that you experience of striving to live a holy life before God. And with a encouraging word to let you know that everything is going to be Alright, because we have a loving God who is there to keep us through it all. I've been a CeCe fan ever since. This particular CD is in line for a Grammy Award later this month. And once you listen to it, you understand why. It certainly has all the elements of the current and future trends in soul gospel. The writers and producers used (Tony Rich, Lauryn Hill (the Fugees), ChukDaddy, Tommy Sims, Victor and Cedric Caldwell, etc.,) not only stretch Cece's audience appeal, but take her to a new level of gospel musical expression.
Every song manages to retain the essence of Cece's spirit and is a combination of the highest quality of lyricism, musical arrangement, production and mixing. This CD like many before continues to set ever higher standards for what can be done on a gospel CD of this genre.
Initially, you will have a hand full of favourites (Life, Allright, On that Day, etc.) but gradually all the songs pull you to want to play them over and over and over. This CD has, by far, my support for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album of the year.

I have to give it to CeCe this is a great CD. I was kind of upset when I seen she had released another solo project. I had just heard BeBe had made his first solo album and was kind of hoping to see the next project come from them as a duo again. However, I was enlightened by the level of spirituality which came across in today's contemporary style. I didn't think this one could get better than her first, nor compare to the dualistic greatness of previous BeBe & CeCe hits; but she has definitely done a great job. I was completely blown away by "Everlasting Love" - to the writer of this song and "The Wind" - you definitely deserve your props - you're the greatest. I loved this CD, and will continue to boost the lyrics, and nice tunes on my car stereo(as loud as possible to reach the unbelievers.) This is a must-have for your gospel collection. I still would like to see the duo back together, soon!!!!Free Music Review: Well, Alright!

I've had this cd since it was first released and it is still as poignant now as it was then. That's the great thing about CeCe's music; it never grows old or tired. "Well, Alright" is easily the standout track on this cd and one of my personal favorites. Other highlights include, "What About You", "Everlasting Love", "Come on Back Home", "Just Come" and "On That Day" (w/Lauryn Hill in the background).Let me not forget, "The Wind"...a beautiful song I've heard somewhere before, I think by a country singer. Nonetheless, it's great with CeCe's vocals as well. If you're tired of the contemporary gospel artists who try too hard to appeal to the younger demographic, pick up this cd, you won't be disappointed.
