Free Music Notes for A New Day Has ComeFree Music Review: Best part - Variety! Hit: 5 Stars
Before her 2 year hiatus, Celine was known for her ballads. And boy were they fantastic! I mean she had hits with The Power of Love, Beauty and the Beast, and who could forget My Heart Will Go On? Well, Celine has moved on. Not to say that power ballads aren't present on 'A New Day Has Come'. Songs like 'Have You Ever Been In Love', 'The Greatest Reward' and, my personal favorite, 'I Surrender', all show Celine's fabulous talent for ballads! And they are wonderful! But Celine does something to throw some people off guard. She branched out, ladies and gentleman. With her fresh CD after almost five years, Celine has hints of pop in her songs. To your relief, not Britney/bubble-gum pop, but good ole pop. The song that will make you get up and move is 'I'm Alive', and then moves right into the song 'Right In Front of You', another pop song. Bold move on Celine's part. Then you get a ballad (Have You Ever Been in Love). Celine does something totally unexpected then. Ever wondered what R&B would sound like, Celine style? Well then 'Rain, Tax' will let you know. It's not one of my favorites, but it's decent. Then you get to the refreshing new-age/pop song, that Celine chose as her first single. It is such a beautiful song, but I prefer the acoustic version (see below). Celine then takes another dash into the rock genre, in her song 'Ten Days'. I don't particularly like this song, but some might. Then comes the string of pearls - my favorite three songs. 'Goodbye' is so beautiful! While some say it will make you cry, I'm not sure of that, but it will give you goosebumps. Then to 'Prayer'. Somehow or another, it seems as if Celine is trying to get a message across to the nation about the September 11th attacks. I may be wrong, but it is beautiful! My favorite song comes next - 'I Surrender'. If you like ballads, or if you hate them, you'll love this song. You have absolutely no choice but to. Gorgeous. Then Celine graciously gives us a remake of Etta James' 'At Last'. Even though the song is breath taking, it seems a bit repetitive, redundant. Speaking of giving, Celine then goes into a dance song. Dance? Celine?!? Yes, it has been accomplished. It's very nice too. 'Sorry for Love' is bound to be a hit for Celine. Think you've had too many twists and turns? Not so. 'Aun Existe Amor' is next. Yes, that is Spanish. And Celine does great with this song! Next is yet another ballad 'The Greatest Reward'. Only one phrase can sum it up for me - short and sweet. 'When the Wrong One Loves You Right' follows up. You may have seen the TV special with Celine, in which she sang this with Destiny's Child. However, much to my dismay, they were not on the CD. 'A New Day Has Come' is next. We've heard this already, right? #5? Kinda. This is the acoustic version I mentioned earlier. This is so fantasticly done, it'll make you hate the Radio version. It's so slow but so very relaxing! Then 'Nature Boy'. I don't know why, but I don't really enjoy this song that much. The lyrics are great, but it just seems very strange. I hope this review has helped you buy this CD. Even though I may not love every song, there is not one song I would skip over! It is fantastic!
Free Music Review: Superb Hit: 5 Stars
From jazz, to pop, to rock, to techno dance, to R&B, to a spanish ballad... Everything you need from Céline you'll find it on this album. A MUST!
I'll review song by song:
1) I'm Alive: 95/100 - A great upbeat song with a catchy melody, light and positive!
2) Right In Front Of You: 85/100 - A pop song, nice melody and lyrics
3) Have You Ever Been In Love: 85/100 - A nice ballad, very celinish! for her long-time fans!
4) Rain, Tax (Its Inevitable): 90/100 - Wow! This is Céline trying a new Techno R&B style, and it fits her wonderfully! Just try this one!
5) A New Day Has Come (Radio Remix): 98/100 - I'm pretty sure everyone has heard this song! Its a touching pop-like song - I just adore it! And her lyrics and melody are so amazing!
6)Ten Days: 100/100 : Yeah! Céline the rocker has come! This is Céline's first try with an english "rocky" song. She has already tried it in french, but this one is a great song, listen to it!
7)Goodbye's (The Saddest Word): 96/100: Ok, this is (as the title says) the saddest song on the album. A very powerful ballad written by Mutt Lange, with SHANIA TWAIN singing backvocals, and it talks about a mother's love for her child, and the day our mother will leave us. moving...
8) Prayer: 90/100: This one is one of my favourites, the sweetest song on the album. Its a ballad and it kinda' talks about children and nature, like poetry!
9) I Surrender: 100/100 : OMG! For the ones who were waiting for a strong ballad, here its your turn! Wow, one of the best songs on the album (if not the best), Céline shows all her vocal ability holding notes and with an incredible bridge. A MUST!
10) At Last: 70/100 : MMM, its a cover ... an old song, Céline performance is very good, but the song is old-fashoned
11) Sorry For Love: 98/100 Is it Cher or Céline? Yes! for those who have heard Cher's song BELIEVE you know what i am talking about. Wanna listen to Céline Dion with all those "techno" effects? Listen to this song and watch too Céline holding a 16 seconds high note! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
12) Aún Existe Amor: 95/100 This is a cover from her french song L'AMOUR EXISTE ENCORE. But she performs it beautifully, and IN SPANISH! It has new arrangements , and it has become one of my favourites, a very beautiful ballad
13) The Greatest Reward: 80/100 : A nice ballad.
14) When The Wrong One Loves You Right: 90/100 Another perfect example of Céline "pop" ability. Its a "Backstreet-boys"-like song with a very catchy melody and great choruses... She also hits very high notes at the end
16) A New day has come: 100/100 This is the album version of the song... Its a very nice ballad.. where Céline sounds almost like Enya. Its new for her, but still great!
17) Nature Boy: 0/100 Too slow, stupid lyrics.
I MUST SAY ITS AN AMAZING ALBUM! I THINK EVERYONE WHO LIKES CELINE MUST OWN IT! Give it a try buddy! :) You won't regret!
Free Music Review: Celine does wonder to your day Hit: 5 Stars
THe first time i had listened to this CD, i just knew i had to buy it.I am an avid Celine fan, but rarely buy any CDs, expect "All the way, a decade of songs". I am proud of Celine, she showed me that i was not waiting her songs for nothing. My personal favourites include "Goodbye's the saddest word","I surrender","I'm Alive","Right infront of you","a new day has come","have you ever been in love". I think that such a huge collection of my favourite songs has secured the CD's place in my bedroom. Apart from this, many of the CD's songs are relatively well, really enjoyable to listen to, and definately worth your time. Celine sings with passion and it is hard not to admire and get addicted to her songs. "Goodbye" was an exceptional heart-stealer. It made me cry the moment i had listened to it. "Have you ever been in love" was warm and real beautiful. Upbeat and lively songs also add to the CD's favour becuase you will not get bored or tired as you might if the CD was only made of serious stuffs. It's unbelievable but celine just stole my heart once again (i thought it can only happen once). Forget Britney, forget some pop girly, you aren't doing Celine credit if you compare her to them. Since the first time i listened to Celine's songs a year ago i have been totally and absolutely addicted. She has a style of singing that distinguishes her from many other singers on the market. While some singers manage to sing a few passionate and breathtaking songs in some parts of their career, Celine manages to give you her 100 percent almost everytime. Or to say simply, she manages what many other singers aim to do------She sings with passion, expression...and stunning vocals. It won't be over-exaggerating to say that you can learn alot about celine through her songs and you can get to know her person through the way she sings. I listened to a few songs while i was at a music store, and i immediately felt that i had to buy the CD. It's a wonder. "A new day has come" was an absolute stunner, i could play and play that song repeatly for a whole hour. "I surrender" took my breath away, i didn't dare breathe for the whole duration of the song since iwas so scared i would disturb her singing. This CD took Celine out from her recording studio into our very rooms.WONDERFUL. Many other songs i like from this CD...for those Celine fans who found this CD disappoint, i'll just like to say---give her a chance, give yourself another chance, listen to this CD again with a quiet mind. Absorb everything, and you will realise that Celine has worked her magic once again. Her songs only get better each time you listen to them. Timeless classics. She works her way through to your heart- and sings exactly what you want to say. Now, all i can say is.....this CD is packed with passion, even if it doesn't suit your taste. Overall, Celine....you are real wonderful, and i still think you are the best singer ever. HOPE YOU HAD A NICE REST.....and WELCOME BACK in my room. Most Celine fans will not regret buying this CD, because even though a few songs are not as well received, the rest make up for them. And this CD...is definately a 5star best.
Free Music Review: Its time to give the girl her credit Hit: 5 Stars
From the moment i heard Celine waz releasing a new album i started counting the days before its release. Ever since i 'discovered Celine' as a teenager her vocal ability has amazed me in a way that no other artist ever could.Mariah who????Whitney what????All of the other 'divas' suddenly didnt hold a candle to Celine and soon enough the sales figures would prove my theory correct. While Celine's career kept risin and risin...everyone else seemed on a downfall. After all this u wondered how could the woman top her last accomplishment. With that said, the truth is that i am so biased towards the woman that i would have loved her new album whatever she did.But once again i waz floored by her vocal ability and this widely versatile album which is a gem for any Celine fan and the best introduction to Celine that any 'doubters and prospective fans' can get. I believe the order in which her albums have been released have served best for her.In other words, this album is even better bcauz its released after Celine is already extablished as an international superstar. Unison waz a bit on the rocks...feeling out the artist..trying to see what worked 4 her and perhaps its best that this album waz not as succesful as the others.Bcauz if it waz then what would Celine have left to conquer? The self titled debut really put a distinct diva to the name 'celine dion'.This is her establishment as one of the best ballad singers ever. Then came Color of my Love, diane warren heavy, i believe this has the most over the top ballads that critics hate and fans of Dion couldnt get enough of.Falling into u is really the album where i dropped evertyhin....and waz totally blown away. This is the album that made me a true fan, simply stated it is a masterpeice. Then there waz 'Lets talk about Love' which Celine claims is an album of a lifetime.Truly said this is the album where she got to work with all these legendary producers. While 'New Day' is her 8th english album its really her 6th studio effort, and to me, the most versatile of the lot.Whats probably most shockin is that the songs are so versatile that what could be my favorite ends up being someone's least favorite. Its not a joint agreement by everyone, and that shows why it will be a huge hit altogether. My favorites are the power driven ballad 'i surrender' and the disco flavored 'sorry 4 love'.these 2 blow me away.'im alive'is the perfect song to start ou tthe album, and gets u in the rite mood..u cant hep but sing along.'Rain, Tax' While goofy in lyrics is actually a very likeable song.'A new day has come' is such a beautiful song.'Goodbye' is heart wrenchin.and 'when the wrong one loves u rite' is a next 'cant help but dance song'.My least favorite is '10 days' which the reviewere actually seem to love, thus proving my point. Also note worthy are the classics 'at last' and 'nature boy' which most critics said waz done very well (i cant remeber the originals).everythin else is pretty bland, but filler that is non the less, still very catchy and even out the lot. With any justice this album will push Dion further into her superstardom.
Free Music Review: Not A Good Move... Hit: 5 Stars
Honestly, I respect Celine Dion as an amazing artists, with a great voice...but this album is not fantastic.Well, I don't know what she was trying prove to the audiences?, trying to also go dance perhaps?. The album before this one was unsuccessful, seeing she promptly abandoned the project, and well- with her more recent work, covering the song ''I Drove All Night'', she crashed down further into the mess. The title track however, is a nice song, the radio Mix is much better than the original. And well, I'm not sure what to say about ''Sorry For Love'', bringing in dance & techno- is just no good...especially for an artist who's trademark is on behalf of soft soothing- and peaceful songs like ''Because You Loved Me''. And unfortunately? Dion does not have the kind of voice that suits the dance floor, it's just a bad combination...The only time Dion had dance-floor success, was when the TITANIC theme song ''My Heart Will Go On'' was released into a remixed CD-Single, managing to get the song to climb the Billboard/Dance charts. But even after that success, Dion has failed every other attempt at the dance floor other than a few good remixes of ''That's The Way It Is''. Such primitive performers like Celine Dion have gone this way, and they have had major success... IE; sophisticated artists like Sarah McLachlan, Cher, Tracy Thorn (Everything But The Girl) and Annie Lennox have proved MASSIVE success when taking a turn for the dance floor...and well, Celine Dion over here makes a bad move. She's got a great voice and it's best used as a soul-instrument. And poorly ''I'm Alive'' along with ''Rain, Tax (It's Inevitable)'' wrecks the content, what did this women have in mind?, that she'd be a chart-topping disco diva?.... Well you see, at the same time in 2002 Kylie Minogue's ''Can't Get You Out Of My Head'', Cher's ''Song For The Lonely'' and Sophie Ellis Bextor's ''Murder On The Dance Floor'' had already taken over the dance charts and there was just no hope for Celine Dion to arrive there, whether as the soft and soothing title track ''A New Day Has Come'' did manage a healthy debut on the billboard charts, the rest bled to be dry and tasteless. I do understand that it's good for an artist to experiment, trying to reinvent themselves, and when Dion pitched up at the dance floor, she was left VERY vulnerable. When others like Kylie Minogue, Cher, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Faithless/Dido and Pink were riding very high in the pop/dance section. This album is below average standards (considering it's genre)... you'd be better off with Dion's previous releases, anything after this has been a mess (Unfortunately...). If you're disappointed...and still want to dance, seeing that all your excitement over this has been tarnished...Go get yourself some real nice pop/dance. Note: If you're looking for an album that can stand out as the true high-light of the early/mid 2002, then you'd be better off with Cher's ''Living Proof'' and Kylie's ''Fever''.
