Free Music Review: Where have all the banshees gone?
Hit: 5 Stars

Who doesn't know Celine by now? The oversinging, chest-thumping banshee diva from the north, fallen victim to the curse that plagues many-a singer with an extremely powerful voice. (Oversinging to the point of excruciation)

Intros aside, something's happened to Celine here, right here, in A New Day Has Come. It's odd, scary... but welcome.

She learned to control her voice! (...To an extent) Finally. Took her long enough. She's also ditched enough of the turgid, goopy ballads of the past in favor of some more ethereal, uptempo/midtempo cuts that pretty much personify perfection. (All this from a singer I used to hate with a passion. Eh, when a good album's a good album, I suppose...)

Of course, there's the occasional stinker (most notably, the hideous, country-fried, screechfest 2002 cover of Etta James's At Last, the weakest spot on this whole album), but the good outweighs the bad here. So forget I ever mentioned any bad.

... some of the best cluster around the beginning of the album - the sunny, mellow, bright opener I'm Alive, dancing gratefully around spacey, misty synths and some of the best drumwork (hollow, tropical, and it sure is pretty) and basswork ever to grace a Celine song (perfect for that cruise to the coast!), and the mindblowing Right In Front Of You, featuring Celine's voice bouncing gracefully off a delicious strings-and-guitar-and-piano combo.

Of course, we also have the huge shockers - first up, the frighteningly Cher-esque Sorry For Love, a potential club-floor filler with a pounding dance beat (at least until it was inexplicably remixed for One Heart), and the Sheryl Crow-esque Ten Days, bluesy and calm all the way.

We have the heartfelt ballads, of course, but there's a shocking change from the past here - tolerability. No oversinging. Just the right amount of emotion wrenched out of each. My personal favorite is the chilling, haunting Prayer (although I wanna know how ...children can "engender the rain"), but Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) runs right next to it... but I'm biased there since Shania Twain and her husband (Mutt Lange) penned it. And boy, I love Shania.

On an album this good, it's hard to pluck up a favorite. But I've managed - the title track. Not the sweeping ballad version on track 15 (or 16, depending on which version you own) - no, I'm talking about the stormy, mid-tempo remix that's nestled oh-so-comfortably in track 5's slot. Chilling guitar work, strings and "aaaaah-aaaaaah" background vocals that give me goosebumps, and a beat that makes me think of thunder crashing... it's probably the most outstanding track Celine's ever done, and thank god for that.

Surprising, though... someone I loathed so much in the past ended up making an album that's since ended up in my "favorites of 2002" list - guess it'll happen to everyone sooner or later. So if an adult contemporary melting pot is your thing, and you want a powerful voice behind it... well, here it is, just waiting for you.

Free Music Review: The Angel Returns!
Hit: 5 Stars

Celine has such a sweet beauty about her and also seems to be living the sweet life. Her music weaves romantic spells that appeal to the heart and lift the spirit. With this CD, Celine declares she is alive, fulfilled as a mother, and "In love."

"When you call on me
When I hear you breathe
I get wings to fly
I feel that I'm alive."

There is an entire feeling of fantasy (shooting stars, moonlight) in this CD. From songs dripping with water images (storms, rain) to the lingering lyrics of the "Nature Boy" rendition, her music seems to embody deep longings of the heart, new beginnings and fulfilled desires.

I'm Alive - Almost a message to her fans saying..."I'm Back and Flying High!"

Right In Front Of You - Speaks of a heart that was in the dark, cold and lonely looking for love and the two lovers could not see what was right in front of them. "I had to fall to finally see that you were right in front of me." Celine seems to have lived some of these songs if you think of how she met her husband.

Have You Ever Been In Love - Deeply romantic, her voice soars.

Rain, Tax (It's Inevitable) - Funky, breezy song about not wanting to be an island.

A New Day Has Come - Soft, silky desires and fulfilled wishes.

Ten Days - Puts a bit O punch into this CD.

Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) - A song about accepting death. A child's love of a mother and an inevitable goodbye.

Prayer - Meaningful lyrics about the world losing her way and children being the hope.

I Surrender - Surrendering everything to feel the chance to live and love again.

At Last - Sexy, smooth and lucky in love.

Sorry For Love - Steps up the Tempo just when needed. Talks about forgiveness and not being perceptive to the needs of a lover, yet promising a better future.

Aun Existe Amor - Exquisite!

The Greatest Reward - Giving your heart to show your love.

When The Wrong One Loves You Right - You can't hide from love.

A New Day has Come - Mellow, with a sense of inner freedom.

Nature Boy - My favorite song on this album. You will recognize this from Moulin Rouge. It is smooth and almost exotic in the hands of Celine.

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
is just to love and be loved in return"
-Nature Boy

It seems Celine has found the greatest thing in this life. If you love Celine, you won't be disappointed. This album grows on you. Listen to it four times and then tell me you don't love it. The baby pictures are a bonus along with the page after page of lyrics spread across sunrise scenes. Sigh...she looks so happy! ;) She deserves to be.

For the Romantics of the World!

Free Music Review: Another Celine Dion album to love, share, and keep forever!
Hit: 5 Stars

After a two year hiatus, Celine Dion is back with joy, happiness, laughter, sadness.......everything is poured on her new album called A NEW DAY HAS COME. So far, it has been her best album. People might say it's just another Celine Dion project, but this one has really made me happy. I would not care even if it would cost me [money]! The album opens with a fresh track, I'm Alive, which is about being alive, obviously. This song is very amazing because of its content and production. This is perfect for an olympic event. Right in front of you is the second track which is not really a Celine Dion type of song like I'm alive, but this song is another great one to listen to. The third track, Have you ever been in love, is a Celine Dion song, and it's really one of my favorites from the album. It's good to know that Celine Dion has maintained her style in singing. Sony should release this is as a single. Ten days is another "move on" song for Celine Dion, and it's an alternative type. But Celine Dion has sung this very well. Rain, tax (It's inevitable) is a complete stand out from the album because it doesn't really belong to Celine Dion's type of songs, but, again, Celine has performed this song very well. I mean, not everyone can really sing this song because of difference. It's a good song! A new day has come (radio remix) has been played in radio stations, so there's no need to give a review for this, but this song reminds me of Enya. Very nice! Goodbye's (the saddest word) is a very painful buy frank song. I am more focused on the lyrics instead of the music because it has a strong content. Celine Dion really knows to capture one's feeling. Very nice! Prayer is all about children. Obviously, Celine Dion sings for children because she has gotten a son of her own. I surrender is another best ballad aside from Have you ever been in love from the album because it is very powerful. Celine Dion sings this song from the heart with a very strong vocal part. This should be another Titanic song! Sorry for love reminds me of Cher, and I love every second of the song. It's a disco dancing song that should be played in discos! This is one of her the best songs from the album. The Greatest Reward is another real tear-jerker song aside from Goodbye's (the saddest song), and it's a powerful ballad. I love this song. When the wrong one loves you right is another "move on" song but excellent. Both At last and Nature's boy are remakes to Celine Dion. Celine sings Nature's boy without any flaw, really. I'm just happy Celine Dion has released this project because it's her best album ever. I don't usually listen to an album without skipping a track, but this one will stay in my cd player for centuries!

Just buy it and you won't regret it.

Free Music Review: Finally.... a new day has come!
Hit: 5 Stars

I love this album! Where should I start - the only song that I couldn't understand was RAIN,TAX (IT'S INEVITABLE) but I can live cause the rest of the album is so enjoyable.

I'M ALIVE - This is one of the album's best songs. I love the lyrics and the beats... Oooh!

RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU - I love this song, it's Rock/Pop. Amazing!

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE - She sang this song on her special, it seems to belong on a movie soundtrack. I love the song when it kicks into higher tones of beats.

RAIN, TAX (IT'S INEVITABLE) - Ahh... what's this song about? But I give the credit to the people who wrote the song and passed it to Rene and Celine (this is one of Celine's favs).

A NEW DAY HAS COME (radio mix) - I love this song. The first time I heard it on TeamCeline.com the beginning is so haunting.

TEN DAYS - This song is my most favorite song. The English adaptation (sp?) of 'Tomber' a French song. I love how Celine pronouces each word. The guitar work... wow!

GOODBYE'S (THE SADDEST WORD) - Grab your tissues. I cried the first time I heard this song. Amazing backing vocals by Shania Twain and her hubby, RJ Lang.

PRAYER - Song written by Corey Hart, vocals and all... amazing

I SURRENDER - another movie soundtrack theme song. Which is amazing too...

AT LAST - I don't get the critics who diss this song. It's amazing.. I hate to keep referring to movie theme songs. But this song could be placed on any remake of those like capper films (Oceans 11) or something like that.

SORRY FOR LOVE - Vocals! Vocals! Amazing vocals... I love that high note.

AUN EXISTE AMOR - Another critics don't like. Why?!? It's not a...'translated' song. The vocals and the music are completely new.

THE GREATEST REWARD - Another English verison of 'L'Envie Amour' I believe from Dix Commandents. Amazing song...

WHEN THE WRONG ONE LOVES YOU RIGHT - I love this R&B song. And the 'Oh-oh-oh-oh yeah' part. Celine is brave not to have a rapper doing some part of this song like other artists today would. You go GIRL!

A NEW DAY HAS COME - I love the orchestration on this edit. It's amazing... Celine's vocals and the solo cello. This song must go longer than what you hear on the album the official 'time' is 5:40 but I think it goes on longer.

NATURE BOY - A haunting song.

The inside booklet is alright. It's a collage of her and her family. What's so wrong with that?!? She's a MAMAN! Geez people... can't she gush over her son? As a Celine fan, I love to hear about her son. He's sooo cute! BTW - his name is René-Charles. If any of you care to know that.

Free Music Review: A New Day Has Come!
Hit: 5 Stars

After waiting for Celine to come back, she's finally come back after her 2 year hiatus of having her babyboy "Rene-Charles", she's now released her first album in 2 years called "A New Day Has Come"...! In which this case, I think this album is the very best that Mrs. Dion Angelil has. Of course there are some different sounds in some of her music on here, for example like.. Ten Days, & Rain Tax (It's Inevitable).. etc! Below is the tracks reviews of what I think of the songs...

1. I'm Alive - This one is one of my favorites.. it's an uptempo song..

2. Right In Front Of You - This one sounds like Britneyish song sorta, but it's still great..

3. Have You Ever Been In Love - A Slow tempo ballad, very beautiful! You'll fall in love with it the first time, if not then the second (Maybe) :-)

4. Rain, Tax (It's Inevitable) - This one sounds very funky a new music sound for Celine...

5. A New Day Has Come (Radio Remix) - I love this song, it's a fast song sorta.. It's hard to explain!

6. Ten Days - This song has a soft rock sound to it. Very wonderful!

7. Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) - The first time I ever heard this song, I almost cried to it... It sounds so beautiful..

8. Prayer - I like this song, it is a moving one... slow song, not too slow tho.

9. I Surrender - My second favorite song on the album, this song is the best! Not a fast song tho.

1o. At Last - This is a remake of this song, the first version was sung by Etta James. But I like Celine's better! It starts outwith a violin sound to it, the violins are played by Dorian Cheah.

11. Sorry For Love - This song sounds like a song something, Cher would sing.. It's very uptempo dance song, i love it.

12. Aun Existe Amor - This is a Spanish Version of L'Amour Existe Encore, the french version is on her Dion Chante Plamondon (French CD).. French version is better tho...

13. The Greatest Reward - This is my third favorite song, it's beautiful.

14. When The Wrong One Loves You Right - This one, is a poppish song. On The CBS special A New Day Has Come, she sang with Destiny's Child.. I'm shocked that they werent on here...

15. A New Day Has Come - The album version, a slower one. I like both...

16. Nature Boy - This is another remake, I dont know who sang the first version, but I like Celine's better anyhow hehee.

Anyhow, I urge you all to buy this album and dont' listen to those people who say not to. This album rocks!! Go Celine :)
