Free Music Review: This CD Doesn't Live Up to Celine
Hit: 5 Stars

[To the tune of "A New Day Has Come"] "I was waiting for so long... for Celine's new CD to come... Sony music told every fan to be strong... hold on, and wait for the new CD..." unfortunately, all that waiting didn't really pay off for us fans (and everyone else). This CD is a pathetic excuse for a Celine Dion CD, and falls short of displaying everything that this platinum- voiced, grammy award winning, voix du bon dieu (voice of God) diva has to offer to the world. I was expecting this CD to be even better than every other CD she has put out since her English- language debut Unison over a decade ago. From Unison through Let's Talk About Love, Celine's CDs have consistently gotten better and better, her last few even earning her Grammys and gained her the status of one of the most recognizable singers (and voice) in the world. No wonder I had great expectations for this latest CD, especially since she had 2 years to get it together (more than that if you count all the time since her most recent all-new, English CD was released), but this CD was nothing but dissapointments. From the shallow lyrics of A New Day Has Come and Rain, Tax, to the cookie- cutter sounds of The Greatest Reward, to Celine's horrible Spanish rendition of a wonderful song (Aun Existe Amor), this CD has destroyed the streak of good Celine CDs. The only sort- of ok songs on this CD are the classic Nature Boy, which features Celine's voice in a unique way; a New Day Has Come (album version) which features a nice, steady walking beat that shows off Celine's voice, and the catchy When the Wrong One Loves You Right, although that songs sounds like something the Backstreet Boys should have sung a long time ago. I don't blame this lack of quality on Celine herself- it's the lack of recognition on behaf of the producers and writers on this CD of the power of Celine. She doesn't need hip-hop pop-sounding songs to sell CDs, it's her voice and her voice alone that sells the millions of CDs and earns her Grammys and recognition. Celine, please get someone else to write your songs... someone that will write songs that feature the power of your voice and live up to you. Think "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" or "To Love You More." Those are the real Celine songs, not the fluff and stuff from ANDHC. --- And by the way, in case you're wondering why I still gave this CD 5 stars- well, I give the CD itself 1 star but I give Celine 10 stars, so it kind of averages out to 5 stars.

Free Music Review: Celine Strikes Gold With Her Comeback Album!
Hit: 5 Stars

I was worried that Celine's comeback album wouldn't be as spectacular as the 1996 FALLING INTO YOU and LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE. But now I can say, having purchased the album, and having listened to it a good twenty times, that she couldn't have produced anything better....

Anyway, Celine has a variety of songs on here, ranging from some surprising pop ones to some more classics to her beautiful ballads. The album starts with I'M ALIVE, which is fresh, and has a 'make-you-wanna-dance' rhythm to it. Then there's RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, which starts out dark and swiches to a poppish sound, the one that Celine seems to give a mature and beautiful sound to. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE is a beautiful song, with some of the most beautiful lyrics. RAIN, TAX (IT'S INEVITABLE) is a more electric sound, which is new for Celine, but I really don't like it. It doesn't suit her. A NEW DAY HAS COME, which you've probably heard on the radio, is just a beautiful song which serves as the title of the album. I also like the original version, which is track 15. TEN DAYS is a leaving of Celine's regular style, but I think that this is a pretty OK song as well. GOODBYE'S (THE SADDEST WORD) is a beautiful ballad that actually can make you cry. PRAYER'S also a more Celine song, and I SURRENDER is one of my favorites, and a surefire Celine ballad, where her voice sounds beautiful. I didn't care for AT LAST that much, liking the original version better, but Celine's was all right. SORRY FOR LOVE is also beautiful, and I think it should be her next single, especially with those high notes at the end. AUN EXISTE AMOR is a Spanish song. It's probably my lack of Spanish that makes me skip this track, but it is rather pretty. THE GREATEST REWARD is a brief, but beautiful song, which seems made for Celine's voice. WHEN THE WRONG ONE LOVES YOU RIGHT is another pop song, but it's Celine pop, which means it's worth listening to. Skipping over A NEW DAY HAS COME (ALBUM VERSION), there's NATURE BOY. A lot of people said they liked the original better, but I liked Celine's much better. Her voice is just hauntingly beautiful.

I think that this album was a beautiful comeback for Celine. It also showed Celine's open-mindedness to all styles of music, which I think is really important. All in all, it's not one of those albums where you can say "I have the last one, I don't need this." I would definitely recommend buying it.

Free Music Review: Just as expected but is that really bad?
Hit: 5 Stars

Frankly, I would tend to agree with the people who say that "A New Day Has Come" is very typically Celine. It really is. She has several ballads, a couple of upbeat songs and her "experimental" stuff. But that doesn't mean it's not a great listen.

Let's take a look song by song:

1. I'm Alive: A very fun dancy type of song that you can sing in the shower without feeling terribly silly.
2. Right in Front of You: Not a bad song but not really Number One material.
3. Have you Ever Been in Love: One of the two best ballads on the album. It's nostalgic but not drippy.
4. Rain, Tax: One of those odd-ball songs that doesn't really do it for me. The same goes for Ten Days.
5. A New Day Has Come (Radio Edit): I'll get to this one when I talk about the album version.
6. Ten Days: see number 4.
7. Goodbye: This song is just a little too much to listen to on a daily basis. It drips with sap.
8. Prayer: I was surprised that I really liked this song. It was just enough to make it one of those typically good Celine songs.
9. I Surrender: Who says Celine doesn't have any "power ballads" on this Album?
10. At Last: A fun remake. I had fun with it, anyway; it sounded like Celine did too.
11. Sorry For Love: Another one of those "upbeat" ones that makes you tingle all over.
12. Aun Existe Amor: Sorry, just couldn't get into this one.
13. The Greatest Reward: A typical ballad that is outshined by "I Surrender" and "Have You Ever Been in Love"
14. "When the Wrong one Loves you Right: This is another surprising song that I'm pleased to hear and hope it's released on the radio.
15. A New Day Has Come (album version): Quite frankly, this is the best song on the album period. I don't know why there is a radio remix version of this song. It is tons better than the radio version for some odd reason. It is simplicity is it's greatness. When it's given doses of caffeine it seems almost corny. But this way, it's the best track on the CD.
16. Nature Boy: An odd choice for Celine (maybe she was miffed that Baz Luhrmann didn't call her?). It's another good remake and she sings it beautifully, but it's just sort of...there....

Overall, it's one of those CDs you can pop in and listen to from beginning to end without hitting the "skip" button. That prompts me to give it a full 5 stars. Good work, Celine!

Free Music Review: A great comeback!
Hit: 5 Stars

One of the most succesful singers of the world comes back with a surprising album:

1. The album starts with a living song called "I'm alive". This up tempo song takes you miles away from your problems with its positivity.

2. Celine continues with same line in "Right in front of you". Would come more up if the previous song were for exemple a ballad. Now after the excellent performance of "I'm alive", the song little bit of boring.

3. Celine touches the deepest par of your heart in "Have you ever been in love" with a beautiful lirycs and music.

4. In this point Celine goes little bit into the wrong direction in "Rain, tax (it's inevitable)". Not just quite Celine's style. Too much trying.

5. The title song "A new day has come (radio remix)" describes the atmosphere of the album and Celine's personal life perfectly. A good pop song!

6. "Ten days" is a very nice pop song. Fresh and surprising, but don't bother to listen the lirycs.

7. One of the highlights of the album. "Goodbye's (the saddest word) is very beautiful ballad with a sad and heart touching lirycs. This is Best of Celine Dion!

8. "Prayer" is a dramatic ballad. Only song on the album that doesn't tell about love relationsihp.

9. The next song "I surrender" continues in the same line as the previous one. Too much repeating the chorus and sung too loud.. But I think it's still OK.

10. "At last" is a perfect song for Celine, classic already..what can I say? Amazing!

11. "Super love" isn't the best of this album. It's nice song, but I don't think this shows Celine's real talents. Too much repeating the chorus and definetely too long.

12. Now Celine's totally lost her way. "Sorry for love", a dance song proofs that her voice is still the same, but not her thing at all.

13-14 Beautiful ballads both of them. "Aun existe amor" sung surprisingly in Spanish! A good one.

15. A great song! "When the wrong one loves you right" is definetely one the best up tempo songs of Celine. Reminds little bit of "That's the way it is".

16. Ballad version of "A new day has come". Pointless song that stays in the shadow of the remix.

17. A great ending. "Nature boy" is a short, beautiful and peaceful song.

Free Music Review: A Great Comeback Album!
Hit: 5 Stars

Here is my short review after listening this album few times.

1. I'm Alive - A great album opening track. Fast tempo with a mix of percussion and electronic beat. A bit resemble from `That's The Way Love Is' from `All The Way.... A Decade Of Song'.

2. Right In Front Of You - Quite a fast track.

3. Have You Ever Been In Love - Slow ballad.

4. Rain, Tax (It's Inevitable) - Pop track. Fast tempo.

5. A New Day Has Come (Radio Remix) - The first single. A great track. Very uplifting.

6. Ten Days - Start with nice guitar stroke. With a touch of blues and rock.

7. Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) -Slow ballad. Collaboration with R. J `Mutt' Lange, Shania Twain's husband. Their previous collaboration is `If Walls Could Talk' (from `All The Way... A Decade Of Song).

8. Prayer - Slow ballad.

9. I Surrender - Powerful ballad song.

10. At Last - Start with a violin. With a jazzy/R&B smooth sound. Slow tempo.

11. Super Love - If you watched 2002 Winter Olympics closing ceremony, this track is a bit like Christina Aguilera's 'Infatuation', it got just a touch of Latin dance sound.

12. Sorry For Love - Much like previous Cher's dance type song but not like Kylie Minouge's dance tempo.

13. Aun Existe Amor - The only Spanish ballad song. I think that the original French song is from her previous French album, but I'm not sure with one.

14. The Greatest Reward - Pleasant moderate tempo song.

15. When The Wrong One Loves You Right - This is the fastest tempo in this album. With a fast drum beat and a hard piano keyed.

16. A New Day Has Come - Much slower that the Radio Remix. Without the fast beat and most background music other then a piano. A nice ballad.

17. Natural Boy - If you happened to remember every song in Moulin Rouge, you will definitely will recognize this. It's from the opening sequence from Moulin Rouge, except the this is sung by Celine of course.

Overall, I think this is the best yet album after `Falling Into You'. With a mix of ballad and fast tempo song. Celine has been know for her powerful ballad and extraordinaire vocal performance. And this album proves that after a 2-years hiatus she just make it better album.
