Free Music Notes for Colour of My Love

Free Music Review: Triumph
Hit: 5 Stars

In "Misled" and "Lovin' Proof" she is more gritty and expressive than most R&B divas. She can also turn soothingly romantic, as in the restrained title track, and in the #1 duet "When I Fall In Love" (from the SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE soundtrack). The chart-topping "The Power Of Love" and "Only One Road" are two cuts of many which squarely place Celine on equal footing with Whitney Houston as one of music's power balladeers. "Refuse To Dance" is a quirky anti-dance song, almost at home on the modern rock charts with its rebellious lyric, a raging violin solo, and Dion's elastic soprano. "Love Doesn't Ask Why" and "Think Twice" are both excellent ballads. Many of the songs on this collection were written by Diane Warren, but in the end it offers something different for the listener in each song. The extra song on some releases "Just Walk Away" is a breathtaking ballad with lots of emotion and vocal powerhouse from Celine, makes me wonder why this gem isn't on all versions.

The disc is filled with radio-friendly songs, executed by a skillful singer whose enthusiasm is effectively controlled. Her vocals are not over-wrought, although she certainly has the chops to sing any other vocalist under the table. Dion is in command of her material, sometimes transcending the song itself with the sheer power of her voice.

Free Music Review: An Adult Contemporary Masterpiece
Hit: 5 Stars

Although I like "Falling Into You" a little bit more, "Colour of My Love" is a masterpiece nethertheless. Prior to its 1993 release, Celine's career had already started to take off. She had three top 10 pop hits under her belt and two moderately successful English albums. This album brought her to another level. Its first single "The Power of Love" is a timeless power ballad and gave Celine her first #1 single *she has had three more to date.* The other two singles, the uptempo "Misled" and the duet "When I Fall In Love" also hit the top 40. But the great songs don't stop there. "Think Twice" hit #1 in th UK but failed to make much of a splash here in the states. A definite highlight of the album is the gorgeous ballad "Only One Road" which brings whitney Houston to mind, but Celine sings it beautifully. Another favorite is the Diane Warren penned "Next Plane Out." It would've made a wonderful single. And finally, the album closes with the title track "Colour of My Love" which is a great wedding song if ever I've heard one.

It would be Celine's next album "Falling Into You" that shot her into the stratosphere, but this album was definitely a foreshadowing of things to come. It's gone an impressive 6x platinum. A Celine essential. Don't miss out on such beautiful music!

Free Music Review: Céline's got it!
Hit: 5 Stars

Celine Dion, the Canadian Streisand of the '90s, spirals her spectacular voice through a fourteen-song set of pop ballads, MOR rockers, and soul-stirrers.
Her vocals are not over-wrought, although she certainly has the chops to sing any other vocalist under the table. Dion is in command of her material, sometimes transcending the song itself with the sheer power of her voice. She has made it once again!

Free Music Review: On The Road To Fame
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the very first album by Celine that reached the # 1 spot on the Top 200 album chart.
It also gave birth to a couple of # 1 hits on both sides of the Atlantic (THE POWER OF LOVE in the USA and THINK TWICE here in Europe).
The album - as usual for Celine - boasts an incredible number of producers that bring different style and flavour to the collection (Foster, Wake, Afanasieff, Roche and many more).
So you can find the dancefloor-oriented MISLED, the SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE movie theme cover of WHEN I FALL IN LOVE, some 4 songs written by Diane Warren (NEXT PLANE OUT being on a note the one tune that should have deserved to be released as single, enormous potentiality just wasted...).
JUST WALK AWAY is another beautiful ballad that appears as bonus track on the international version - emotionally charged and celine sings it supremely well!.
Other outstanding tracks are I REMEMBER L.A. and LOVE DOESN'T ASK WHY.
And if you still need a little extra uptempo just go for EVERYBODY'S TALKING MY BABY DOWN.
Celine is REALLY a love vocalist, if emotions is what you are looking for, the lady is an emotion provider.
This record is superb!

Free Music Review: Every track could have been a hit!
Hit: 5 Stars

The title says it all. For me personally the weakest track is 'The Power of Love', and when that is your weakest track, then you know you have a hit on your hands. Whilst many people have eloquently described this album, the track that will truly shock you is 'Refuse to Dance'. This hypnotic swirling track simply stunned me on first hearing. Whatever Celine & her producers were thinking when they put this track down, Bravo, Can we have more of the same please? The simple sound of Celine's first note gives you no idea what you are about to unleash, with a syth bass line followed by a solo violin, the track simply launches itself at you. Her steamy, sultry delivery of the vocals on this track will make you realise why she is one of the foremost female vocalists of the 90's.This track is not only my favourite Celine Dion track, but one of my favourite tracks period! The groove underlying this track simply grabs hold and will not let go. Add in the likes of 'Misled', 'Think Twice' & 'Everybody's Talkin' My Baby Down' and you have a must buy. Now stop reading and get this album ordered, you will not regret it.
