Meav, of course, is best known as the beautiful blonde soprano, late of Celtic Woman, who has developed a huge fan base that will continue to partake of her every musical offering. If that offering is of the quality displayed in "A Celtic Journey", then we have much to look foward to from her. Listeners will recognize several of the songs from her performance of them with Celtic Woman. All bear the stamp of her lovely and distinctive voice. These are traditional songs to which we are indebted to Celtic Woman for preserving and packaging so beautifully for introduction into the 21st Century to listeners perhaps unaware of their long traditions, yet who may come to love them anew. I was suprised at how much I really liked this album, as I have thought of Meav as a bit of stiff-ly professional artist, but I was amazed by the way she uses her beautiful voice, and was pretty happy with the song sellections. Favorites are The Last Rose of Summer, I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marbled Halls, Danny Boy, Greensleeves, and Dante's Prayer. Dante's Prayer is my favorite track. It is just so-o beautiful. And her coverage of Danny Boy is the best I've ever heard. The only track I didn't care much for was Celtic Prayer -- it didn't showcase Meav's voice very well, and was rather sparse. Overall very stunning! Waste no time adding to your collection.
