Free Music Notes for A Celtic JourneyFree Music Review: Easy Listening Hit: 3 StarsThis is very relaxing and nice cd to listen to. You will be pleased if you buy this album. Meav has a crystal clear voice that is just beautiful. I think Meav has more potential than she realizes. I think she is holding back on what she can really do with her voice. Meav reminds me of an earlier Sarah Brightman. Sarah was sweet and sang very carefully in her Webber years, but then she found something in her voice and it soared, and now is doing amazing and fun things with her career. I think the same could happen for Meav, I know she already is a success, but I think she can be even more if she lets her voice go even more. Just a thought.
Free Music Review: Meav's great, but this CD repeats earlier tracks Hit: 3 StarsMake sure you check out Meav's self-titled CD "Meav" before purchasing "A Celtic Journey," because this CD contains some of the same songs. The same thing occurs on the new "Celtic Women" CD. But Meav's voice is worth hearing over and over!
Free Music Review: Transcendently Impressive Hit: 5 StarsI was currently given this Cd as a gift from a friend. I have listened to Meav since 2004, and have heard her songs even when she was still with Anuna. A Celtic Journey is an impressive collection of Meav's best songs.
Meav's music has truly matured through the years. The quality, clarity and passion in her voice becomes more superb each passing year. And this Cd contains all the songs on that wonderful journey.
The arrangement on this version of "She Moved Through the Fair" is quite unique. "The Last Rose of Summer" definitely demonstrates Meav's true vocal talent in classical, and not just traditional irish music. Meav sang "Down by the Salley Gardens," "Suantrai" and "Goltrai" for the admirable solo Cd of Andreja Malir ("Through the mirror of sound") and I am glad Meav added these songs in this collection for those who have not heard of the latter Cd of the famous orchestra harpist.
I dreamt I dwellt in Marbled Halls, Celtic Prayer and Danny Boy are my favorite. No one can sing them like Meav!
Greensleeves was definely My Delight!
And Dante's Prayer is truly a memorable song. It stands out definitely in this Cd.
You may also find yourself playing this version of "Silent Night," just for a lullabye (even if its not the holiday season).
If I am introducing someone new to Meav's music, this is the Cd I would get them.
Meav: A Celtic Journey takes your on a serene and meditative journey while listening to these wonderful collection.
Truly a Celtic Excellence!
Free Music Review: Celtic Journey Hit: 5 Stars I first encountered the incredably talented Maev on the Celtic Woman DVD. So when her latiest album became available on Amazon I immediately ordered it. I was not disappointed!! Whether she sings in Irish or English she does so with a richness and intensity you seldom see in music today. Maev puts her sould and personality into her music. I can't say that about a lot of performers today. Any one who loves Celtic music needs to check Maev's CD out. You will not be disappionted!! It is outstanding.
Free Music Review: Depends on what you think is Mystical and Magical. Hit: 3 StarsMeav has a nice voice. This is not Celtic music by any definition I know, but I believe that in the US the word Celtic can be applied to anything at all. It isn't mystical, nor is it magical, but it is commercial and a little bland. Nice studying music! I also checked out Anuna as the reviewer below suggests, and I must admit that it is hard to believe that something as exotic and original as Anuna ended up as this kind of stuff.
