Free Music Notes for The Water Is WideFree Music Review: A good voice is not enough. Hit: 2 StarsOrlagh Fallon has a good voice, but is unable to convey the feelings and emotion of the lyrics. She sings as if she is reading the words and has no understanding of their meaning. Her renditions of She Moved Thro' The Fair and Carrickfergus are about as bland as I have heard. These songs have so much emotion, pain and passion to express, none of which I found on this CD. Like Enya's recordings, this is beautiful music but has no soul. If you are a lover of traditional Irish Music, this CD is not for you.
Free Music Review: Orla Hit: 5 Stars
Very pleasant to hear.
A new special singer for me.
Free Music Review: More Authentic than the others Hit: 4 StarsI bought the DVD/CD Celtic Woman last week and a whole new world of music opened up to me.
I was entranced with the Violin by Mairead, and the superb vocals by Meav and Lisa.
Orla (Orlaugh) to me is the most authentic and sings the most traditional songs of the 4 vocalists. Orla also has a wonderful Celtic accent which gives the music a more realistic sound.
Lisa as great as she is tends to sing modern songs. Most of her songs are from movies, such as Lord of the Rings or shows like Riverdance.
Meav is another great singer but she would fall under the same heading.
Orla loads her album with traditional songs. She also sings my favorite, The Water is Wide. Her song selection in my mind is the best of the four vocalists hands down.
You cant go wrong with albums by any of these singers, but if you want the real thing, Orla is the woman.
She is also a superb harp player and her harp playing alone is worth buying this CD..................Enjoy
Free Music Review: could have been better Hit: 3 Starsexpected more could have been better but is pleasant to listen to
Free Music Review: Orla Fallon: The Water is Wide Hit: 5 StarsThis cd is spectacular! Orla's voice is simply enchanting along with her beautiful harp playing. And I love how some songs are in gaelic and some in English; it's a nice mix. This cd takes you to another place and time. If you're a big fan of Loreena McKennit, Enya, or Meav ["Silver Sea" was awesome!] than you will fall in love with Orla's music! It's amazing that it took over a year after this cd was released to reach America, but thank God it's finally here!
