Free Music Notes for A New Journey (Deluxe Package w/bonus tracks + Irish charm)Free Music Review: Exceptional Hit: 5 Stars
I feel like I have been waiting for this CD forever. I am not in the least disappointed. It contains a great selection of songs and some of the most beautiful voices in music, today.
All the songs on this CD are wonderful, but there are a few that stand out.
The Prayer: This is a solo by Chloe Agnew and it gave me chills. She has the sweetest, most enchanting voice.
Over the Rainbow: All the ladies sing this song, their voices blend seamlessly. The way they harmonize, it's indescribable.
Granuaile's Dance, Shenandoah - Pacific Slope: Mairead's fiddle sets a different tone and pace to this CD. It's impossible not to want to dance to her playing. Between the fiddle and the bodhran, I am in music heaven.
At the Ceili: I saw the ladies perform this song in concert this summer and I was hoping they would record it. It is a comical look at dating. The beat is fast, the lyrics humorous and the singing great.
Spanish Lady: Another song I saw them perform and hoped they'd record. All the women sing this one and again it is another upbeat, toe tapping, fun song.
I received a charm with my CD, its a little silver claddagh, it's cute. Comes with an explanation of the symbol and what it means. I don't think there are any songs on this CD that I would skip through. The only song I am not madly in love with is Sing Out and that's not even skip-able. It's not a bad song; it's just not my favorite. Another thing I like about this CD is that they included the lyrics on the insert, even the ones not in English. This is a wonderful CD and an excellent edition to your Celtic Woman collection. I can't think of a more gifted group of women.
Free Music Review: Brilliant vocals, brilliant orchestration... perfect. Hit: 5 Stars
I've been waiting for this CD with baited breath since I saw the concert on PBS in December. And now I've finally got it! I just got it this afternoon and already I've played it three or four times, it's that good.
I am a huge fan of Celtic music, it's just so ethereal and beautiful. This group of immensely talented women combine Celtic music, a few songs with a more musical theatre style, and even some classical/opera songs (I know, a 16-year-old who likes opera!), and every single one is amazing.
My favorite song on this CD is "The Voice," sung by Lisa Kelly. It's such a beautiful song, and the lyrics struck me so hard the first time I saw it that I had to watch the tape of the concert over and over again, just for that song! Mairead Nesbitt is amazing as usual; I wish an audio recording could convey her wonderful stage presence. I also rather like Hayley Westenra on "Lascia Ch'io Pianga," although I'm not overly fond of Chloe Agnew's "The Prayer;" it really should be a duet, and she left out all of the Italian! The first group song, "The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun," is amazing.
Definitely go with the Deluxe edition of this CD, since "At the Ceili" and "Spanish Lady" are just brilliant group songs, some of the best, and are of the fun upbeat kind of Celtic music, which is also great. I'm hoping I can see them when they come to Radio City in March - Celtic Woman is an amazing group!
Free Music Review: Beautiful..... Hit: 5 Stars
....a great continuation of the first Celtic Woman album.
After seeing them on PBS, getting the first CD and seeing them in concert I am hooked. These ladies can SING!
The bonus songs make the album definatly worth the extra few dollars...it includes the fun, upbeat, songs Celtic Woman performs at the ending of their live shows....I was so hoping they would put them on an album. Live or not, the sound quality is PERFECTION, they sound studio quality.
I was a little hesistant at first about the addition of the new member...but she rounds the group up nicely.
If I had one complaint it would be the repeat of songs from the individual albums, particularly Chloe's version of "The Prayer" but for the most part this album is sheer joy...no disappointers here. I am also not a big fan of "Sing Out", it seems to simply for the complexity and range of these ladies talents....but overall I am pleased with the purchase.
The charm is lovely, but the bonus songs were my main drive for purchasing. Trust me it was worth it.
Free Music Review: Celtic Woman : A New Journey Hit: 5 Stars
I have been a fan of Celtic Woman for a number of years and finally bought this CD. This CD is like all Celtic Woman concerts, CDs and DVDs, wonderfully done and will make you laugh, cry and cheer. This CD is the deluxe edition with four additonal songs and a beautiful charm. The additional songs are Sing out, Shenandoah, At the Ceili and Spanish Lady. These extra song are well worth the few extra dollars. Shenandoah, At the Ceili and Spanish Lady was recorded live in 2006 from the Slane Castle DVD ,something else that any Celtic Woman fan should have! These extra songs are well worth the few extra dollars. The charm should be worn by someone that your truely care about, but I think I want to keep it until I find that special girl. I love this CD and if you donot already own this CD and are a Celtic Woman fan or even if you like Celtic music, I highly recommend this CD. You will want to play this CD many many times.
Free Music Review: A Journey For The Spirit Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is a mosaic which combines the genus of David Downes, the talent of six fantastic artists, the richness of Celtic and contemporary music, along with a marvelous orchestra and chorus. Each artist can be heard performing individually as well as together in adaptations of tradition folk music such as "Dulaman", "Scarborough Fair", and" Spanish Lady", adult contemporary which include "Beyond the Sea", the classical pieces of "Lascua Ch'io Pianga, and newer composition in the Celtic style which include "The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun", "At the Ceili, and "Caledonia. Maireasd's solo performances in"Grasssnuaile's Dance", and "Shenandoah-The Pacific Shore" are just as enjoyable as seeing her perform. Listing to her on the CD provides an appreciation of her great talent as a violinist. The music touches the spirit and takes the individual on a journey beyond the senses.
