Free Music Review: My New Favorite Christmas Album!
Hit: 5 Stars

I had heard of Celtic Woman before, but I had never really sat down and watched any of their shows on PBS, and when I did, I was completely hooked! I went right out and purchased this album! It was the perfect Christmas CD this holiday season. I had it on ALL the time: in the car, at home, etc.

These ladies have unbelievable voices, and the way they sing can be so soothing and relaxing. Are you sick of cheesy, campy Christmas tunes? Then this CD is for you. The ladies of Celtic Woman belt out the classics in a very beautiful way. I myself was really ready for some quiet, relaxing Christmas music sung by people who can actually sing properly. "A Christmas Celebration" was the perfect CD for me. Sometimes I am just in awe of how well these women sing and how perfectly their voices blend together. The harmonies that are produced here are just spectacular, and Máiréad works that violin like there's no tomorrow!

My favorite song on this album is "Christmas Pipes." It was a song written by their producer, David Downes, and it really combines the Christmas spirit with some traditional Irish sounds! It's an incredible song and it's very powerful and upbeat!

I also really enjoy "Ding Dong Merrily on High," "O Come All Ye Faithful," and "O Holy Night." To be honest, all of the songs are good, even "The Little Drummer Boy" is fantastic, and I typically loathe that song!

They sing all the songs on their album with their hearts and souls and really put you in the mood for Christmas. Best of all, the songs feel unique, because I really feel like they were arranged in a way that was perfect for these women. They add just a little bit of Irish spirit to your holiday season! All in all, fantastic CD. I highly recommend it. It's worth every penny!

Free Music Review: Let Christmas Come Early This Year
Hit: 5 Stars

This is by far one of the most enchanting and magical Christmas CDs I've listened to in a long time! If you were impressed with Celtic Woman, I promise that this CD will not disappoint! Every track is most worthy of its own private review. The vocals are stunning, Mairead's violin performances are magical, and the accompanying instruments are so beautiful that I guarantee that you will be carried away to another time and place.

The CD itself is filled with traditional carols (O Holy Night, Silent Night, Ding Dong Merrily on High, Carol of the Bells, O Come All Ye Faithful), contemporary carols (White Christmas, The Christmas Song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, The Little Drummer Boy, Let it Snow) and a couple of carols I was not familiar with (Christmas Pipes, Panis Angelicus, Don Oiche Ud I Mbeithil and the Wexford Carol).

Christmas Pipes is a fun, more energetic song that brings to mind gatherings with friends, kissing under the mistletoe and sharing hot cocoa. Panis Angelicus is a gentle, soothing song, while Don Oiche Ud I Mbeithil (That Night in Bethlehem) is so tender and contemplative that it brought tears to my eyes. The Wexford Carol brings to mind carolers in Victorian England.

Both the traditional carols and the more contemporary carols are so beautifully done that I can't imagine that anyone could ever do a more beautiful version.

I would have to say I love the entire CD, and find that I want to listen to the whole thing over and over rather than skipping from song to song. I would highly recommend "Celtic Woman A Christmas Celebration" to anyone wishing to make this season more magical and inspired for themselves and their loved ones.

Free Music Review: Sure To Be A Holiday Favorite
Hit: 5 Stars

Thanks to Public Broadcasting, the musical quintet CELTIC WOMAN has quite a fan base. It's easy to see why. They are pleasing performers who perform beautiful music together. They have their own sound which has a broad appeal. This makes the group natural candidates for a Christmas collection that will be loved not just by fans but anyone who loves holiday music. This collection does not disappoint.

Most of the tracks in this collection are traditional Christmas titles both religious to the secular. The temptation of many performers is to just sing some Christmas songs and hope for the best. CELTIC WOMAN does the opposite. There is a true ensemble approach to the music and we never get a sense of competition or jealousy. The carols are performed with reverence and the contemporary songs are pleasant. The authentic Celtic music and selections from the British Isles are perhaps the strongest in the collection. There is a distinct Celtic sound where appropriate including the beautiful violin (fiddle) playing of group member Mairead Nesbitt, but numbers where a Celtic flair would be out of place are performed traditionally with wonderful arrangements. The selections are varied, so it should be enjoyed by just about anyone who loves holiday music.

My guess is that fans of CELTIC WOMAN will not need a review to convince them to purchase this CD. For those who may not be familiar with this ensemble, if you're looking for a varied Christmas CD with beautiful music and wonderful arrangements that will both entertain and sooth, then CELTIC WOMAN: A CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION fits the bill. I'm sure it will be a popular holiday release this year and in many years to come.

Free Music Review: Better than your wildest dreams
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are into Celtic Woman and enjoyed their album, this is for you.
This will easily become the best Christmas CD of the year, if not the decade.
All four singers are in top form and Mairead is playing some of the sweetest violin you will ever hear. Mairead is possibly the finest violinist I have ever heard. She certainly has a feel for the instrument I have never found with anyone else.
The album has mostly classic Christmas songs. The arrangements are the traditional arrangements. The Orchestration is very well Done.
Christmas Pipes which I believe is a new composition, is one of the best songs on the CD. I am hoping we will be lucky enough to have a DVD of the concert to watch as well. If not it would be an injustice.
Each performer has one song where they solo.
Orla in a Kelly Christmas Song (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire).
Carol of the Bells is played by Mairead and features her at her very best.
Chloe Angelicus and Meav does the Wexford Carol.
The singers share the vocals on most of the songs. There is one song where Chloe and Meav do the vocals. This combination of vocalists is the finest ever put together including the 3 Tenors. Sorry Pavorati.
I promise you this CD will be put away with only your very favorites, if its not infact your would recommend this to anyone who loves Christmas Christmas
Since I wrote this review, last Christmas the DVD of this performance came out. I would recommend it as well to anyone who loves Celtic woman.

Free Music Review: Beautiful!
Hit: 5 Stars

I was so pleased with this purchase! The voices are so pure and musical, and the song selections are mostly (but not all) traditional, with nice additional musical play in the celtic tradition. The vocals are just stunning. Each song has just enough new but beautiful interpretations, and each is about the music, not the musician.

The CD begins with a beautiful rendition of "O Holy Night", then "Away in a Manger", "Ding Dong Merrily on High", "White Christmas", "Silent Night", a really pretty song called "Christmas Pipes", "The Christmas Song", a very pretty "Carol of the Bells", "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Panis Angelicus" and the celtic "Don Oiche Ud I mBeithil (That Night in Bethlehem"--very beautiful! ) That is followed by "O Come All Ye Faithful" and my least favorite, but still the best I've heard yet "The Little Drummer Boy", and "The Wexford Carol" (lovely), followed by "Let It Snow". A complete Christmas album, completely well done.

It doesn't matter how many other Christmas albums you have, this would be a great addition. I'll be getting some extra copies for xmas gifts this year because I think almost anyone would like this music.
