Free Music Review: Great if not complete

First off, it is great to have so many awesome Chaino Africana tracks on one CD but the cover is misleading. This CD contains 27 tracks but does not include the complete Chaino Africana lp shown on the CD cover. 4 Tracks from the original lp are not included. The missing tracks are Congo Serenade, Bongo Beat, Slave Train, and Afro Cha Cha. The liner notes explain that their tape warehouse was ransacked and many tapes were missing. Yet many of the album tracks are obviously taken from vinyl (little if any de-click processing was employed) so it is a curiosity why the producers didn't take all of the original lp. They do include many wonderful tracks from other Chaino lp's. Most if not all are stereo. While many tracks are from vinyl, several others are from master tapes. The liner notes don't include details as to the sources of the tracks but say the sources are "logged". This is still a must have CD for fans of early stereo, lounge, etc...
