Free Music Review: Chaka Can Still BELT!
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is probably one of Chaka's best since leaving Rufus, not that I Feel For You was small in any way, but this is totally different.

On ClassiKhan- Chaka scats, belts, hollas and testifies-like only she can-using her voice as a musical instrument with razor-like precision, to turn classic songs into her's alone.

A very difficult feat considering the material is so identified with their original singers, like Stormy Weather and Diamonds Are Forever, but somehow Chaka works it and makes it work.

Her voice has remained unchanged throughout the years; still powerful, husky, and with dynamic range-Chaka lets it all out.

Backed by The London Symphony Orchestra, this album is a marriage made-in-heaven. If you liked her earlier jazz-type songs such as Don't Go To Strangers and End Of A Love Affair, Chaka Khan takes ClassiKhan to-as Anderson Cooper would say-"the nth degree", delivering a power-house album reminiscent of the ole-smokey-jazz-clubs of yesteryear.

Free Music Review: THE BEST OF THEM ALL
Hit: 5 Stars

I hate the fact that Jason Alexander chooses to speak untruths. While he's entitle to his own opinions, I wish people wouldn't be so ugly and malicious. Now, truth be spoken, Chaka is the greatest singer in my book. She has a versatility like no other. With this album, she reaches down into her jazzy soul and comes up with one of my favorite pieces of work from her. Chaka's voice seems to get better with time. As I am an artist myself, I know that she is older so the voice has deepened and is even a little raspy at times but Ms. Khan is a powerhouse, a belter, a crooner, a sex kitten, and just a down-right fabulous singer. I get chills when I listen to the emotive power of "Diamonds are Forever." I feel like a kid on a playground when I hear "Is That All There Is." When I hear "Big Spender", All I can say is "Sing Chaka, You'd better sang girl." Her work speaks for itself. I'd recommend this CD to any jazz lover or to anyone that appreciates good music and great vocals to back it all up.

Free Music Review: The UItimate Diva
Hit: 5 Stars

Chaka will always be my favorite singer. The girl has pipes and few dare try to match her style. Oh, Mary J tried (NOT!) and Whitney (kept it simple), but no one, and I do mean no one, can sing like Chaka. I did read one review that obviously misses the mark. How someone can 'assume' that she is trying to sound like Ashanti is truly astonishing, since Ashanti probably listened to Chaka. You are probably young since you used 'middle-aged' as a demeaning remark. Clean out your ears because Ashanti does not rank in the category of any artist that can truly belt out a song. She is in the same lame category as your Britney's, Jessica's, Beyonce (yes Beyonce) in their 'limited' ability to deliver 'commercial' music to 'untrained ears'. That said, Chaka is in a class by herself. She can sing anything and never fails to prove time and time again that her voice is on point. This cd is a definite buy for anyone who is a fan. Even if you're not, you will enjoy the experience.

Free Music Review: Wonderful!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is an absolutely wonderful recording! I came across it by accident on iTunes, downloaded a couple of tracks, then promptly ordered the CD from Amazon. I won't bore you by repeating the glowing comments left here by others. I must add however that I was stunned to read the handful of negative reviews on this site.

Here's the bottom line for anyone considering buying this CD.... 1)If you loved Chaka Khan's funky music and only want to hear her sing that type of music, DO NOT buy this CD. You will be disappointed. 2)If, however, you love Chaka Khan's vocal virtuosity, love her "Echoes of an Era" CD, appreciate a wider range of music than just funk, like Queen Latifah and Rod Stewart's recent stabs at singing standards, and like Diana Krall (even just a little), then add this to your shopping cart immediately. You will absolutely love it! Chaka can sing rings around those people I mentionned.

Free Music Review: Can't argue with these reviews
Hit: 5 Stars

It's great to see Chaka Khan get such a positive response for her new album of covers.

I have to admit I was getting a bit tired of standards albums, especially after Rod Stewart and Michael Bolton have released a number of them, but if there is one singer who could really pull it off, it is Chaka Khan.

Ms. Khan may be one of the best R&B singers in the world, but she is also an accomplished jazz singer. She brings her considerable talents to this album, featuring an excellent variety of songs including "Crazy", "Stormy Weather", "Round Midnight" to her double does of Bond covers, "Goldfinger" and "Diamonds Are Forever".

Her take on "Is That All There Is" is sublime as is her take on "To Sir, With Love" and her Bond covers are perfect for her stellar voice.

I fear this album will be overlooked but I hope the positive word of mouth spreads.
