Free Music Notes for ClassiKhanFree Music Review: Chaka Can Still BELT! Hit: 5 StarsThis album is probably one of Chaka's best since leaving Rufus, not that I Feel For You was small in any way, but this is totally different.
On ClassiKhan- Chaka scats, belts, hollas and testifies-like only she can-using her voice as a musical instrument with razor-like precision, to turn classic songs into her's alone.
A very difficult feat considering the material is so identified with their original singers, like Stormy Weather and Diamonds Are Forever, but somehow Chaka works it and makes it work.
Her voice has remained unchanged throughout the years; still powerful, husky, and with dynamic range-Chaka lets it all out.
Backed by The London Symphony Orchestra, this album is a marriage made-in-heaven. If you liked her earlier jazz-type songs such as Don't Go To Strangers and End Of A Love Affair, Chaka Khan takes ClassiKhan to-as Anderson Cooper would say-"the nth degree", delivering a power-house album reminiscent of the ol-smokey-jazz-clubs of yesteryear.
Free Music Review: just ok Hit: 1 Starsok, I love Chaka, but this is horrible. I listen to it once, and was like WTF. She is not even trying to sing on this CD. I thought her last CD with Prince "Come into my house" was great. I like her jazz songs, but this CD is her worst. Maybe this is the best we will get out of her now.
Free Music Review: Mr Alexander, Full of Bull - Pucky Hit: 4 StarsIn Response to the ignorant speech put out by Jason Alexander, it would help to get your facts straight and learn a bit about music.
First, Chaka was with Rufus probably before you were born and was a star then, is a star now. Second, Ashanti is a CHAKA wanna be, not the other way around. (Chaka would have to lower her talent significantly) Three: While Chaka has hit after hit, over an extended period of time, (three decades) , Ashanti is at best a one hit wonder who needs a hit without Ja Rule.
Mr. Alexander should put down his bong to see that the only reason why the Ashanti Album blew it out of the water was to avoid the stench of your review.
Its a shame since these are two excellent artists of differing eras and "reviewers" must profile everything just to be cool.\
Check out "Diamonds Are Forever". This is a great mellow CD down in fine style by a significant song stylist. If You liked the Rod Stewarts and Robert Palmer CDS, you will like this one.
Free Music Review: Chaka is on Fire! Hit: 5 StarsOver the years Chaka Khan has dabbled in the jazz genre. Now, with the help of the London Symphony Orchestra, Chaka takes the next step to becoming one of the great ladies of jazz. She takes the theme from "To Sir With Love" and turns into to a jazz classic. She puts her stamp on the over recorded "The Best is Yet to Come" and makes it brand new. Another album with no promotion. I stumbled upon this cd my accident. It is a wonderful addition to any straight ahead jazz collection.
Free Music Review: Beyond Classic Hit: 5 StarsWOW! I have enjoyed Chaka Khan's music for years. However, ClassiKhan brings about a whole new appreciation for Chaka Khan and her awesome voice.
The London Symphony Orchestra is well matched for the power of Khan's vocals.
Khan's version of Stormy Weather is electric, raw and soul stirring.
ClassiKhan is a must have CD!
