Free Music Notes for Voice of an AngelFree Music Review: Potential beyond measure Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is remarkable. It is true that the recording quality is poor, but this also gives it a sense of reality. She does not have a huge diva voice yet, nor am I sure she ever will. If she is trained well, she will be wonderful upon reaching vocal maturity. If she is overworked, she will not be able to sing by the time she is 17. I am a college voice major, so when I first listened to the CD, I could pick out the awkward breathing and missed notes, but I could not have cared less. She does NOT sound like a 40 year old lyric soprano who's been doing operas for 15 years. If that's what you're looking for, by a Cecilia Bartoli CD. Charlotte sounds old for her age, maybe like a 20 year old, but has qualities of youth that make her voice very unique. If anything I'd buy each of her CDs as they come out to track her progress and see her grow as a singer. It is a lovely CD to put in at bedtime if you want to be lulled to sleep. Those bashing her and saying that they have heard better, I hope you have, or else you have no business rating a classical CD. I have heard better as well. But regardless of what you may say, her expression is beautiful, her voice is clear, and her song choice reflects her values, God and Country. In conclusion, don't buy this CD in search of perfection. But if you are truly in search of perfection, don't buy any CDs at all.
Free Music Review: A truly enjoyable recording Hit: 5 Stars
As it often happens, I "discover" talents while watching PBS. I recall the day when I heard Andrea Bocelli sing with Brightman the now famous "Time to Say Goodbye"... I rushed to the store and bought everything I could that had the name Bocelli (and/or Brightman) on the cover. Well, I listened to Miss Church and did likewise and then I was disappointed I could only find the one CD. I listened to it over and over and I loved it. Granted Charlotte is still a child and her voice may not be perfect (as some "critics" have stated in this forum) yet I think she is well ahead of the pack. This is not hype as some have (wrongly) said (no, it was not Lloyd Webber), it is a gift in the making. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 12 year old cutting a mutli-year deal with whoever. Recording labels cut these kinds of deals with potential stars... and Miss Church is that. I do not have to give her more years to polish her art... as far as myself is concerned, she is worth every acclamation she gets. How old was Yo-Yo Ma when he made his debut at the Kennedy Center? How about Midori when she played at Carnegie Hall? Like Charlotte, both were teens, both are gifted and both cut great deals with recording labels... and both were still polishing their skill... GO! GO! Charlotte...
Free Music Review: Voice of an Angel - So What? Hit: 5 Stars
Being a big fan of vocal works, I was interested in this girl ar first. After listening to it, I hate this album and this singer. I'm sick of this kind of "genius." There are a few of my feeling for this: 1. I've heard the recordings by the young Julie Andrews, who is one of my favorite singers. Her voice have been matured for a long time, this is why I love to hear her recordings. I don't think Charlotte's voice will be the matured voice like Julie's. And her voice is too weak to be an opera singer. If you are interested in REAL opera singer, I recommend Renee Fleming and Cecilia Bartoli, they has wonderful techniques and wide vocal range. I don'y think she will be able to sing "Madama Butterfly." Why does she want to play role such as Chio-Chio-San? This role is very difficult.2. To my knowledge, there are few of singers who have been famous all over the world since the young days. Most of them were used up their talents till they are growing-ups. 3. She must have been thought singing is raising high notes. Oh, I can't put up with this singer! If you wants to hear "Voice of an Angel," I recommend "One Heart, One Mind" by Elisabeth von Trapp. she is very wonderful and beautifully singer, I think.

Free Music Review: Excellent example of a highly trained young voice Hit: 5 Stars
I have not paid too much attention to technique as some reviewers have. My interest in this album concerns the quality of the voice in communicating age, sex, health, and emotion. As an example of the human voice used to communicate through music this album (this voice) strikes me as a unique example that prompts discussion over what can be known about a person from the sound of their voice. As a comparison I often play Andrea Bocelli. How much about the person can you tell by the sound of her voice? Some have said that her voice sounds older and more mature than she is in this album. I would argue that her voice sounds her age but indicates health and training of precisely the sort she has. I would also agree with those that critique the emotional depth in some of these songs (Amazing Grace for example was mentioned) and agree that despite the beauty of the voice and the melody of the song, that the emotion expressed is that of a young girl. We can hear this not only in the sound of the voice - it is youthful certainly - but in the intonation that treats the melody as pure melody and not as communication. This is a highly trained young voice in a very healthy and strong young girl and that is why it sounds so wonderful.
