Free Music Notes for Voice of an Angel

Free Music Review: Wonderful, marvelous, fabulous, beautiful!
Hit: 5 Stars

"Voice of an Angel" brought tears to my eyes and sent chills down my spine at the same time. It's that good. A few of these reviewers said they were disappointed and could name better singers. Well I've heard nearly all of the ones they cited and found that, while they are indeed excellent sopranos, they don't have anywhere near the same sense of wonder and joy that Charlotte has. Charlotte's "Pie Jesu" is the most beautiful song I've ever heard anyone sing. She gets my vote as the best soprano going. (And just to be fair, Kiri Te Kanawa's "Panis Angelicus" is a bit nicer than Charlotte's rendition. It's the one song on the CD I'd like her to re-record when she's older.)

Free Music Review: Sublime
Hit: 5 Stars

I know most customers (unfortunately) will not take the time to read the hundreds of reviews of this wonderful CD. Unlike many of the musically/operatically astute reviews to be found here, I can only offer a layman's humble thoughts. This compilation of the the familiar (and not so) gets better with each listen. I especially liked hearing Charlotte sing in her native Welsh. On the downside, I was hoping for another version (esp., J. S. Bach's) of 'Ave maria' and 'I Vow to Thee, My Country' was out of Charlotte's range. But overall - sublime! And yes, I too cried (once again) to 'Danny Boy,' the ever heart-wrenching lamentation of the British father over his son lost in the First World War.

Free Music Review: Classics to the forefront
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD features the lovely voice of Charlotte Church singing a modest variety of songs. Some of the songs such as Danny Boy are standards of a sort, others such as the Welsh are a bit more esoteric in nature. Charlotte's voice is truly lovely, but often is dominated by the music. She sometimes sounds like she is singing through a door into the next room. This does not mean that the CD is not well worth buying and listening to. I wonder how long ago the recording was made because I have heard her twice on U.S. television singing live with a small string quartet for accompaniment and her voice is clear, unwavering and much better than on the CD. All in all worth buying and listening to.

Free Music Review: Some reviewers are just morons.
Hit: 5 Stars

Charlotte Church has a beautiful voice--it probably isn't perfect, that's true. I just don't understand how some people, musicians themselves, can't admit that she has a definite talent. Who cares if there are other people her age who can sing better? What's wrong with the songs she chose? Since when do musicians have to take an opinion poll to see what kind of music they should like to sing? Her voice sounds lovely--and the name of her album is so accurate because "angelic" was my first reaction. If you don't like her voice, don't listen to it. It's that simple. Just keep your negativity to yourself because those of us who are deeply moved by her find your reviews pathetic.

Free Music Review: Disregard the naysayers
Hit: 5 Stars

I, like some others, have also been amused by some of the comments coming from the tiny minority of Charlotte-bashers. She may not be "technically correct", but that's one of the most endearing things about her. We're catching this extremely talented lass at the early stage of her career, and as she grows and learns we can likewise grow in our appreciation of her and her music. True, the CD has its flaws, mostly technical, but that hasn't stopped it from selling millions in every corner of the globe. She's probably the most popular 13-year-old girl on the planet right now, so Sony Classical will no doubt spare no effort on her second CD, hopefully out before year's end.
