Free Music Notes for Chicago

Free Music Review: Everyone will love it
Hit: 5 Stars

Watching the movie, I was thinking to myself: "Self, don't a few of these pieces sound like some of the pre-Boingo stuff from Danny Elfman?" I was blown away by many of the numbers and when I saw Danny's name in the credits, and went right out to get the soundtrack the next day. That night I played the CD for a group of friends (with diverse musical tastes) at a party and it was a big hit.

The album has many very catchy tunes -- my favorites are "All that Jazz", "Mister Cellophane", "We Both Reached for the Gun", "Razzle Dazzle", and "When You're Good to Mamma". Zeta-Jones and Latifah were excellent and Richard Gere and John Reilly were very memorable as well.

On the downside, Zellweger was mediocre -- nice voice, but dull. The bonus vocal material (that didn't appear in the movie) was all very poor, but I don't think that detracts from the dozen other outstanding tracks. Also, I thought the engineering on the "Cell Block Tango" was a little weak. The lows are too soft.

Free Music Review: Fantastic Cell Block Tango
Hit: 5 Stars

I just have to put in my two cents. Cell Block Tango/ He had it coming was so fantastic, it literally dragged me back to the movie the next day to see it again and the second time I saw it, it brought tears to my eyes because I, personally, maybe have led a sheltered, battered, life of too much work and not enough fun, but when I see art like that, I get emotional. It may be "unconvincing" to someone who is a lot more sofisticated than me but that number was my favorite and I believe it was the favorite of my friends. The whole movie is such a perfect work of art, I love it, and I am a 50 year old construction worker. I have been to musicals, I have been IN musicals. But I have never seen anything like this musical. Let us say the truth about this movie. Being blown away by a movie is no small thing. This movie will blow you away unless you are brain dead. There is nothing unconvincing about it. You will be convinced. This movie blows away the Matrix, for crying out loud. I am ordering several copies of the sound track for me and my friends.

Free Music Review: A "must" if you love CHICAGO (the movie)
Hit: 5 Stars

The recently released film CHICAGO has the exuberant energy to blow open the theater's doors, and I raved about it to every one of my friends for whom film going is a pastime. The CD of the CHICAGO soundtrack is a "must" if you think you'll love the music divorced from the visuals. (If not, wait for the DVD, which I'm going to buy also.)

I've already listened to this disk twice, and the cat is looking at me strange as I thump her cat tree to the beat of the music. I plan to plug this CD into the chariot's boom box tomorrow and see how many noise abatement laws I can shatter on the way to the old 9 to 5. I hope residents of those sleepy streets I pass through like "All That Jazz", "Cell Block Tango", and "Razzle Dazzle" as much as I do.

The CD includes a couple additional tracks not found in the film. One of them, a hip-hop version of "Cell Block Tango" that I consider a travesty of the original, is my only thumbs down. However, that's why God invented a "skip" button!

Free Music Review: a wonderful musical experience
Hit: 5 Stars

Much to my surprise, I had to get this CD right after seeing the movie and have played it every day since I've purchased it. Who would have guessed that Catherine Zeta Jones, Queen Latifah, John C. Reilly and Renee Zellweger could excel in this genre?

From the first strains of Catherine Zeta Jones and All That Jazz to the last "legit" soundtrack vocal of Hot Honey Rag, this CD is a winner. Other standouts include Queen Latifah's When You're Good to Mama, John C. Reilly's Mr. Cellophane, Cell Block Tango and Renee Zellweger's renditions of Funny Honey, Roxie and Nowadays.

The extra songs, Love Is A Crime and the hip hop version of Cell Block Tango, aren't bad but they simply don't belong on this CD. It's a blatant pandering to a younger generation that will enjoy the soundtrack songs on their own.

This soundtrack could have easily turned into a very bad joke. A wild round of applause to the producers, director and actors who made it happen.

Free Music Review: Best Musical Soundtrack ever!
Hit: 5 Stars

Chicago is my FAVORITE movie musical and after I watched the movie, I instantly fell in love with the songs. I was going to order it on amazon but I was too anxious, so I bought it instore at Target for $11.99 :[. If you're thinking of buying this, definately buy it on Amazon!! It's the cheapest I've found. But, once I got the CD, I rushed to upload it on my computer and ipod!. I think it's the greatest soundtrack ever! I listen to almost every song like everyday! I love Catherine Zeta-Jones's voice and Renée's is good too :]. Richard Gere was the perfect choice for Billy Flynn. I was really surprised when I saw the movie though, I didn't know any of the actors could sing! (besides Queen Latifah). Especially John C. Reilly!

Also, you get the song "I Move On" which is played during the credits for the movie and "Class" which was cut from the movie.

If you love the movie like me, you should really buy the CD!
