Free Music Notes for Chicago - Greatest Hits: 1982-1989Free Music Review: Comeback Days Hit: 4 StarsThere are just so many acts out there right now that really don't appreciate music and artists from the earlier eras. Whether it is from now or then, it always seems to be whatever is popular right now, has to be it for them. Not really the absolute answer. Theer are just so many acts out there hat bring the music as whole, over an image. Chicago was like that during their era in the 70's, and as well as their comeback era in the 1980's. During that time, they were dropped by Columbia, and signed on with Warner Brothers, but nearly losing a part of themselves by being asked to remove the brass section, the trademark symbol to the organic feel of Chicago. Thankfully, they didn't, but they did have drama enough, and that was felt right here.Chicago Greatest Hits: 1982-1989, is a collection of 12 of their songs from their comeback era during the 1980's. The songs here are very few, but still with a whole lot of feeling to go around. The songs here are for the torn fans from Jason Scheff, and Peter Cetera. Largely, because the Cetera left Chicago during the mid 80's to start a solo career. All in all, the songs here are great and ful of life, including great songs like Stay The Night, Hard To Say I'm Sorry / Get Away, Will You Still Love Me?, If She Would Have Been Faithful, the debut of Chicago with Jason as a member of the band, and Look Away, their only #1 song with Jason as a part of the band. Although a huge of amount of material is here, many people might not want this record, instead buying the Only The Beginning 2002 collection, but the whole comeback era speaks here. While Chicago hasn't had a big hit anywhere, they still continue to perform and craft their style of music to audiences everywhere. This record is truly a must have for fans of Chicago's comeback era, but not for mainstream fans of Chicago. I strongly suggest you get this, only if you haven't heard the horns blow their winds.
Free Music Review: The album was first that I thought a wonderful album. Hit: 5 StarsFew years ago in Japan, [hard to say I'm sorry] was used in a Japanese car song. But I did not know about the song name. Didn't know the band name that sang the song even. The only thing that I find out was that the song had very beautiful and sentimental melodies. After few years, by chance I listened to the song in radio. And finally I find out about the song name and band name.I bought this album including the song in a record store soon. The first point that I would to buy was for listening the song, [hard to say..].But in fact when I listened to the album, there ware the other plus things, that is, there ware wonderful and beautiful ballad songs except of [hard to say]. Individually,I like ballade songs with miner chords. The album had a lot of beautiful and sentimental melodies. The album was for me. At same time, the album made the chance that I was interested in foreign music. I think that it was very fortunate. Thank you for reading poor English.
Free Music Review: Grade A Hit: 5 StarsA great hits package from Chicago. Starts after their comeback with their 16 cd. Runs for two cds with Cetera, then two cds without. All their mid to late 80's hits are here. Jason is a good replacement for Cetera. Weak spot is that the cd is alittle short on songs, several good songs were left off. Better to pick up THE HEART OF CHICAGO VOL 1 & 2.
Free Music Review: The best of 1980's "Chicago". Hit: 4 StarsOf course there's alot before this, and some since, but it's still a great single disc collection. Soft pop-rock pretty much dominates this cd, but there's a couple upbeat songs, "Along Comes A Woman" being one of them. Other favorites include "Stay The Night", "Your The Inspiration", and "Hard Habit To Break". I wish it had the "Cetera/Amy Grant" duet "The Next Time I Fall", but that may have come out later. Anyone looking for the complete "Chicago" picture, should get the 2-disc "Very Best Of". But for a casual fan of the band, "Peter Cetera", and the 80's, this should be just awesome. You'll know every song.
Free Music Review: The quinessential Peter Setera collection!!!!! Hit: 5 StarsEvery song makes me want to turn the lights down, the stereo way up, and relive the legendary voice of one of the most prolific artists of our era!!!!! "Look Away" takes me back to my '84 Thunderbird that I took my future wife to prom in, WHAT AN GNARLEY SONG!!! Hopefully one day I will have the privelage to introduce my grandkids to what I believe was the most influencial band in contemporary adult music. Long live CHICAGO!!!!
