Free Music Review: A BRILLIANT AND TIMELESS FIRST OFFERING, AN ENERGETIC AND INSPIRING MAGNUM OPUS.............
Hit: 5 Stars

Chicago was raw, energetic and creative and spoke volumes of jazz, fusion, blues and above all Rock-n-Roll. The first song "Introduction" is in my opinion one of the best lead off tunes on an lp ever. The great James William Guerico produced CTA and a long line of Chicago platnium lps throughout the 1970s. "Beginnings", "South California Purples" "Questions 67 and 68", I'm A Man, every song on this cd translates to a Chicago Magnum Opus. "Chicago Transit Authority" was recorded for three weeks of January 1969 at CBS/Columbia Records at the labels famed East Coast Studios in New York City. The linear literature is very interesting, the bw photos let you see a young faceless Chicago with the likes of musicians Terry Kath, Walter Parazaider, Peter Cetera, Danny Seraphine, Lee Loughnane, James Pankow, Robert Lamm. Faceless but a band that made a landmark album. I match this recording (CTA) with any Beatles or Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who,recordings, or any band of the 1960s or 1970s. I really feel the release Chicago Transit Authority was actually admired by these afore mentioned bands. Highly recommended listening to a very influential recording. 10 STARS HANDS DOWN...................................

Free Music Review: TO ME, EARLY CHICAGO IS THE BEST CHICAGO
Hit: 5 Stars

early chicago at its best!!!! this is raw, intense, and the drumwork on the tracks is wonderful and aggressive. i just wished that they would've kept this sound even in the 80s. really, i wonder what the music would've been like if terry kath hadn't have died the way he did. THE WHOLE WORLD'S WATCHINH............THE WHOLE WORLD'S WATCHING.........that has been sampled so many times that it is not even funny. like their version of I'M A MAN just as much........if not more.............than the spencer davis group. love that PURPLES song. BEGINNINGS and SATURDAY IN THE PARK are oldies station staples. for me, though, it's COLOUR MY LOVE. that da da da DA da da..............i am a straight gullysucka for that!!!!

Free Music Review: FIRST AND REAL

Free Music Review: Chicago Transit with Authority
Hit: 4 Stars

Chicago Transit Authority started off like gang busters. Their eclectic free form style set the music world abuzz. They weren't afraid to experiment and this is especially noticeable on their first album. Their first effort was an fm-radio album format dream.

Free Music Review: Chicago I a solid Beginning
Hit: 3 Stars

It's easy to be lulled to sleep by the proliferation of schmaltzy pop ballads that have been churned out over the decades by this seminal jazz/rock band. And, as result, it's a band that is easily dismissed by many - heck, Chicago still isn't in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, an inexcusable oversight; even if all the band had to be measured by was those schmaltzy power pop ballads, it would still deserve a plaque in the hall. But Chicago is so much more than the hits, as evidenced by this double-disc 1969 debut. Powered by the three-man horn section and the raw guitar style of the late Terry Kath, the band moves smoothly from catchy pop punctuated by jazz riffs ("Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", "Beginnings," "Questions 67
