Free Music Notes for The Best Of Chicago 40th AnniversaryFree Music Review: Horribly Edited Songs Hit: 1 Stars
Buyer beware. I only got through the 1st 5 songs of the 1st CD before taking it out of my CD player in disgust. The songs are terribly edited (less than 3 minutes for Beginnings, same for Question 67 & 68). I thought that since there were fewer songs per CD, they would include the full album versions. And there is plenty of room on the CD to do so (only 51 minutes on the 1st CD). Why anybody would want these inferior versions is beyond me. All the Chicago greatest hits CDs suffer the same fate (although the edits on this one are worse than previous ones). Shame on you Rhino! Give us a real greatest hits with the real versions.
Free Music Review: The WORST of Chicago at its 40th Anniversary (thanks Rhino guys)!!!! Hit: 1 Stars
I don't know what's going on with Rhino Records producers. This compilation of Chicago "best" hits is full of SINGLE versions of the songs! It also misses some other great Chicago Hits, maybe not so broadly aired as "Wish You Were Here", "25 Or 6 To 4", or "Love Me Tomorrow"... I mean, for example "Song For You" from 'Chicago XIV' album (fingerprint cover) are always excluded from these compilations!
Don't worry, "Best Of" serious collector: This Chicago's 40th Anniversary Best compilation... Just forget about it! You won't find the real "Best Of" this great band in it!
Free Music Review: Chicago - The Scam Hit: 1 Stars
Chicago is apparently now just in the business of continually re-releasing the same sad tunes, over and over again, apparently for their fanbois. I had the pleasure of attending the Chicago/Earth Wind and Fire concerts a few years ago, and Chicago was just sad playing the same tunes like a giant jukebox. EWF on the other hand were dynamic, powerful, and breathed new life into their songbook - showing up Chicago in the process. I guess lots of people like living in the past, and while Chicago was a ground breaking band in 1967, now their just a tired old bar band.

I was not satisfied at all with this c.d. A lot of these songs started
in what sounded like the middle of the song, as well as ending way too early. I expected to hear the exact songs on this c.d. that I hear on the radio. If I had known they were this way I certainly would not have ordered it. I think the companies who put out such short songs in duration and that vary from what comes out on the airwaves should specify that these are "The Readers' Digest Condensed Versions."
Free Music Review: Too short in the long run Hit: 1 Stars
Rhino should be ashamed of itself. For a label that has distinguished itself on great reissues, this compilation sucks--unless your'e totally into Top 40 radio edits, which don't so justice to the original tracks from this band's great early career that defined jazz-rock along with BS&T.
Do not waste your hard earned $$$ on this crap unless you have the attention span of a three-year-old.
