Free Music Review: Heavier Bodom

Children of Bodom definately take a different direction with this album but it is a good one. If you want the same style over and over again go listen to the same album over and over. The heavier riffs are definately a change on this album, but the guitar work is still amazing. For example, the track, "If you want peace....Prepare For War" the riff is definately heavy but it is still played at a ridiculous speed. I really don't know where other people are getting the "there are hardly any guitar or keyboard solos". If I remember correctly there is a guitar and keyboard solo on every song. Alexi's vocals have taken a change too. There is more intonation and they are more harmonious. As with all previous Children of Bodom albums all the songs are good, what I'm saying is there isn't really a Bodom song that I listen to and say "that was horrible", each has something to offer. Whether it be a killer keyboard or guitar solo, a ridiculous riff, or a catchy chorus. Some stand out tracks are: "Living Dead Beat" "In Your Face" (my personal favorite off the cd) "Trashed, Lost, and Strung Out" "If you want peace....prepare for war" (wow what a sick riff). The songs are definately heavier on this release but Bodom still retains the COBHC sound with classically influenced solos. Bottom line, this is a great album showcasing a band with a lot of talent, and this album is better than a lot of other stuff out there.
