Free Music Notes for Christmas Extraordinaire

Free Music Review: One of their Best!
Hit: 5 Stars

Having enjoyed their efforts over the years, this one is in my humble offering, the finest to date!

This is fusion music at its best--jazz, classical, folk, new age, all woven into tasteful and well thought out, produced and performed works.

The "Hallelujah" effort is breathtaking! Outset gave me reserve to tamper with such, but The Steamroller pulls it off with delight and reverence! Their renditions of "Away in A Manger" "Do You hear what I hear" and my favorite: "Faeries."

The addition of UofM Glee Club and Johnny Mathis are nice touch, which adds to the enjoyment and variety. This is just happy, relaxing, reverent updates of scores we all like to hear.

Provides nice variety to pop into the CD and place on "Scramble" mode, jumping from CD track to CD track, providing bit of every style.

Highly recommend!

Free Music Review: Another Excellant Christmas album
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the fourth of five Cd's
It opens with a lively version of the Hallelujah Chorus.
White Christmas is played with bells. The melody is very pretty with harmony in the backgroud to augment the performance.
Away in a Manger is another pretty song that is played on a flute with a guitar in the back ground, very relaxing.
The First Noel is played on Cellos, with bells doing the melody.
The combination is very pretty.
Winter Wonderland is played on bells with a snythesizer in the background.
O Tannenbaum is sung by a mens choir and is very pretty.
Auld Lang Syne finishes the CD.
This is a classic Mannheim Steamroller CD in their fine tradition of Christmas music.
The music is very uplifting and soothing at the same time.
I would recommend any Christmas album by Mannheim Steamroller........Merry Christmas

Free Music Review: A Peaceful Christmas!
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this album because I love Mannheim Steamroller. I also have to admit that the mixed reviews on this site had me very curious about what I would be hearing. This album is decidedly different than the past albums; but isn't that why artists make new albums? A true artist is creative -- not stagnant. The first time I heard Mannheim Steamroller was a pleasant surprise of rhythms and sounds. Each succeeding album has been the same pleasant surprise -- they are all different.

This particular album is a great backdrop of music with all the creative mix of instrumentation at which Chip Davis is so "Extraordinaire!"

Keeping in mind the events of September 11th, in New York City, and knowing the huge crowds that gather there for the approaching New Year, the arrangement of Auld Lang Syne in this album was done to perfection. It is haunting, reverant.

Free Music Review: Extraordinary!
Hit: 5 Stars

Some people say this isn't a good album, but this work was crafted entirely on fan requests, myself among them. I was one of the many who suggested Chip Davis, head composer and drummer, do an interpretation of "Away In A Manger", and I think he succeeded, along with all of the other modernized classics Chip has composed. I listen to Steamroller's version of Tchaikovsky's "Dance Of The Sugarplum Faeries" year-round! It's that good! Chip's interpretation of "Silver Bells" truly embodies the modern spirit of Christmas. Although Chip has done "Auld Lang Syne" before(in his solo "Impressions" album), his Christmas spin is magnificent. And his version of Handel's "Hallelujah" chorus was very well done. I'd say try this album yourself. You'll be glad you did.

Free Music Review: Beautiful
Hit: 5 Stars

Ok, I had read some not-so-good reviews of this album on a different website, and was really nervous to purchase the album, but.....I LOVE THIS ALBUM! Call me crazy, but I think this is their best Christmas album to date. I love the tracks that are "fast," but the ones that are slow really dig deep into ones heart. This is not an album to put on at a rip roaring Christmas party. It's an album to play at a family get together, or when you're with your sweetheart, sipping hot cider in front of the tree. I like to listen to it when I'm by myself too, because the music is magical and so relaxing. Enjoy it!
