Free Music Notes for Chocolat: Music from the Miramax Motion Picture (2001 Film)

Free Music Review: A Wonderful Score
Hit: 5 Stars

Ah... As sweet as chocolate... Rachel Portman has written a beautiful, enchanting piece that is the embodiment of Lasse Halstrom's wonderful film. Some tracks, especially like "Vianne Sets Up Shop," are full of energy and curiosity, and others are very dignified, such as "Three Woman." The style of the score is very French, so it even has an authentic feel to the film's setting. It also resonates the style of some of Thomas Newman's work. A wonderful score... You'll love it!

Free Music Review: A wonderful score to a great film
Hit: 5 Stars

Rachel Portman has done an excellent job with this music. It fits incredibly well with the film itself and is great to listen to on its own (though I find it hard sometimes not to think of the film, while it's on.) It's a fun soundtrack. I like to leave it on sometimes when I'm reading or having a little coffee time, not that any of that really conveys much about the album. But if you liked Chocolat or are a Rachel Portman fan, you might wish to pick this cd up.

Free Music Review: Mahvelous
Hit: 5 Stars

Rachel Portman has done it again. Cider House Rules, Marvin's Room, Legend of Bagger Vance, just gorgeous music. This and the A Beautiful Mind is her most brilliant work so far though. She mixes so many new instruments into this score, the spanish guitar, I love it! I just keep picturing Johnny Depp strumming the strings. The overall theme of this movie just gives me the chills, and to all of you true music experts please purchase this!
Ciao,

Free Music Review: As much of a treat as a mug of hot chocolate with a dash of chilli pepper!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a powerful soundtrack with a meditteranean feel, an evocative reminder of an outstanding film. There is a wonderful mix of melodies - some beautiful, haunting, melancholic and intrigueing, others joyful and uplifting. It's a bit of classical mixed with a bit of latin guitar and a touch of gypsy. A couple of the tracks are Johnny Depp playing multi-layered ethnic guitar solo. Superb. I had to have it. Try it. You'll be glad you did.

Free Music Review: Chocolat is addictive
Hit: 5 Stars

After viewing Chocolat I found I could not get the music out of my head. Finally, driven to distraction, I succumbed to temptation and purchased the CD. That was a year ago and I continue to listen to the disc almost daily. Although relatively short, Rachel Portman's score is more than a beautiful enhancement to the humor, passion, and romance of the movie, it is wonderful music in its own right, enchanting and addictive. Highly recommended.
