Free Music Notes for Chopin: The Complete Nocturnes And Impromptus

Free Music Review: disappointed
Hit: 1 Stars

This Chopin Album is nice music but the heavy breathing on it ruins it for me, making it impossible to listen to.

Free Music Review: Excellent performance
Hit: 5 Stars

I like the performance by Arrau very much. However, as someone else has already noted, the heavy breathing of the performer is sometimes heard quite loudly and it can be somewhat distracting.

Very good value.

Free Music Review: Arrau's Nocturnes live up to Chopin'd expectations...
Hit: 5 Stars

This was the first complete collection of Chopin's Nocturnes I was fortunate enough to purchase. I have heard various interpretations since, and I find Arrau's to be the most "nocturnal." The tenderness that Arrau displays, is perfect. His sedate performance is lush with Chopin's uninhibited dreaminess; it takes the listener to an ideal fantasy land. Other interpretations of these Nocturnes always seem to be played slightly quicker by other pianists, whereas Arrau appropiately slowed bown a notch to accentuate Chopin's intended arpeggio style. The only tiff I have is with the recording. At higher volumes, the sound of Arrau's breathing is definately audible. Oh well. This is still the best interpretation I've ever heard--despite the cheaper than normal price! A must have for novices and Chopiniholics alike (I'm somewhere in the middle)!

Free Music Review: Can't find any better Nocturnes than those
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of the most rewarding Chopin recordings ever. Listen to Arrau at night, and you will understand why. Arrau is a poet and his play does total justice to these deeply poetic pieces.
The piano is excellently recorded, the sound is beautiful.

Free Music Review: Too much, not enough
Hit: 3 Stars

Just a short one... Arrau plays Chopin's Nocturnes with far too much rubato and no restraint (which Chopin was noted for), the record, while listenable and sometimes beatiful, leaves one feeling less than satisfied.
