Free Music Review: The Smoothest Of All Smooth Jazz

One of the many things I love about Amazon.com is their fabulous recommendations and this CD is one of those and never did they go wrong with their endless suggestions. This CD in its entirety is simply mesmerizing with Chris Botti's smooth, elegant and evocative covers of "Indian Summer," "Back Into My Heart," "My Funny Valentine," the title track "A Thousand Kisses Deep" and my all-time favorite Bacharach/David composition "The Look Of Love" with vocals by Chantal Kreviazuk. These beautiful melodies are so intoxicating that you won't be satisfied with a single listen and it would make you want to listen over and over again.
Mr. Botti's playing is reminiscent of Chet Baker's cool, mellow and captivating style in his version of Rodgers and Hart's "My Funny Valentine." This young and gifted trumpet player is also a very talented composer and he co-wrote five of the eleven tracks in this CD, most notably "Back Into My Heart" and "Ever Since We Met."
This is my first Chris Botti CD, which was #3 on the Top Contemporary Jazz Chart in 2003, and definitely will not be the last.

"A 1,000 Kisses Deep" is an excellent set from this romantic trumpeter. Burt Bacharach's "The Look of Love" with Chantal Kreviazuk on vocals is an immediate charmer with its stunning sultry melody and Hal David's entrancing lyric, "What my heart has heard, it takes my breath away, I can hardly wait to hold you, feel my arms around you." The title track from Leonard Cohen's 2001 "10 New Songs" might have been an unlikely choice, but also has an immediate accessibility with its contemplative mood that Chris nails to the wall. At the heart of the CD, "Ever Since We Met," a Botti original, has a playful sensuousness that makes me keep coming back with the low-key vocals by Bridget Benenate. "My Funny Valentine," a live staple on Botti's recent tour with Josh Groban, is classic in this studio version. Botti heads back to Bacharach for the only recorded version of "The Last 3 Minutes" that I can find. The CD concludes with another strong melody, "Love Gets Old." This CD is wonderful. Chris Botti plays the trumpet like nobody's business!!
"Indian Summer" is a wonderful tune.. so upbeat, but smooth at the same time. "The Look of Love" is so good. Vocals on this track are lovely. The vocals and trumpet compliment each other so incredibly well. It takes you to a different place. "Ever Since We Met" does the same thing...takes you to another place. "Love Gets Old" is so pretty.
The sound of Chris Botti playing the trumpet just leaves you breathless. The entire CD is full of wonderfully smooth music. Chris Botti is such a talented musician. His control of the trumpet is amazing and you can hear it throughout. If you listen to this CD with earphones, it's incredible.
This CD can go everywhere with you. I play it in the background during dinner, I have it playing in my office while I am working, I have it on my iPod while I am mowing the lawn. I simply cannot get enough of the amazing talents of Chris Botti.

After listening to this CD, I was completly floored by the artist and the material. I don't understand the logic behind SONY MUSIC not promoting this artist/product to mass market. UMG nurtured KENNY G until his career arrived at levels of "LARGEST INSTRUMENTAL ARTIST" and "Top M.O.R ACT" on the planet.
BOTTI with his scope of material and talent could easily surpass the "KENNY G" status and be crowned modern day HERB ALPERT.
The brooding musical sound of CHRIS BOTTI and his compositions are both unique yet marketable (possibly due to his musical link with STING).
If you're an avid fan of instrumental music (I'm usually not), Herb Alpert or you love to discover what's new in music (I do); I highly recommend purchasing this product.
It's one that you'll play forever and keep in your collection for years to come. This CD is timeless !
Free Music Review: Different vibe, different version of Chris Botti

When I first heard a clip of his new CD, I couldn't help but order it right away. Here I am, listening to his music, it cannot be better. Rhythemic approach to this album is quite different from his previous "Night Session" album. This is more urban, yet sophisticated.
Personally, my favorite track is "A thousand kisses deep". On a rainy day, this is a killer track. ^___^
Chantal's voice is rather haunting, accompanied by Chris's performance.
"My funny Valentine" is a laconic performance, sparingly performed.
Two big thumbs up for this daring approach!!
