Free Music Notes for When I Fall in LoveFree Music Review: Gin and Tonic Jazz With a Kick Hit: 5 Stars
I'm new to the smoldering world of Chris Botti, but what a find. This trumpeteer simmers with passion and sensuality. From the first note until the last, this cd begs the listener to sit back and enjoy a quenching gin and tonic with extra lime. The kick here is pop singer Paula Cole. She duets on two tracks and they are an earful - "What I'll Do" and "How Love Should Be". Ms. Cole should run to the nearest recording studio and lay down some tracks of her own. Barely recognizable from her "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone" days, she is on fire as a jazz chanteuse. If you're looking for a slow ride to heaven - this cd is for you.
Free Music Review: Smooth jazz with a new twist Hit: 5 Stars
Chris Botti is far from being classified as smooth jazz, although with his versatility he could easily jam in any Chicago club. However, his tone is so smooth he has almost redefined smooth jazz for me because there's no other way to describe his style.
His smooth renditions of classic love songs make this a must for romantics, but the funky new edge on La Belle Dame Sans Regrets and his flawless tonality gives it enough musical edge to entice more serious jazz listeners.
If you're a jazz fan his other albums are a must and if you just like the songs on this album Michael Buble is a must. :)
Free Music Review: Botti is the Best Hit: 5 Stars
9/8/2007. My wife and I saw and heard Chris Botti last January 28, a Sunday evening raw wind and freezing rain and snow, at the Chicago Theatre just north of the Loop, and again with Diana Krall at Ravinia just north of Chicago last Sunday evening, September 2, in the Pavilion with clear blue skies above. Both sell outs. Also saw him on Ramsey Lewis's TV program "Legends of Jazz." He is the trumpet's "Frank Sinatra." We have given his CDs to friends. Whatever others may think of him, my wife and I are sold on his use of his trumpet with this music. Terrific! Inspiring!! C. Yopst, Chicago
Free Music Review: Chris Botti : The Legend Hit: 5 Stars
Well, every so often a CD comes along that is more than fantastic, more than words can describe and more than a true work of art. This is it, and you better be ready for it. The renditions of these songs are what legends are made of and on this CD its song after song, in the end, Botti and Company leave you exhausted and asking one question, when is another new CD like this coming out. Sting,Dominc Miller, Billy Childs and the wonderful Paula Cole need to be brought back for an encore! Cheers PS: Botti is going rival Miles as he get older, its only a matter of time.
Free Music Review: WHEN I FALL IN LOVE - CHRIS BOTTI Hit: 5 Stars
I'm a semi-professional trumpet player and so have reason to say this. Botti's laid back style is deceiving in that he makes it sound so easy as all the great ones do. Don't get this for a lot of "higher faster, louder" playing as many trumpet players do. I use it as a "must listen" for my students. Get it for his incredible breath control and interpretations of these classics (and yes at one point on the album he goes way up and makes it sound natural - at least an F concert)If you're of a certain age this is a great "date" album.
