Free Music Notes for ExclusiveFree Music Review: Very Cute Hit: 5 StarsI like this album. Chris Brown is still young so not all of his songs will appeal to me. But for the most part I really did enjoy this album. With You is my favorite song!
Free Music Review: Have To Give It To The Young Buck... Hit: 5 StarsMan, it has to be between him and Mario right now for rnb/pop prince. I have the two albums on constant rotation in my car. Just like his debut album, I listen to this one from the first track to the last. Chris Brown has utterly impressed me with the album. My favotire song on the album is of course "With You"...all I can say is amazing on that song. "Kiss, Kiss" and " Wall to Wall"...are of course main stream radio tracks, but the rest of the album tracks can replace them such as "Take You Down(MY JAM), Picture Perfect(That beat is SICK), and "You"...I literally can list the whole track list, lol. Young Buck, is taking over the rnb scene w/ Mario definately closing in on him. A must buy!
Free Music Review: Great follow up Hit: 4 StarsThis is a good sophmore follow up for Chris Brown. Good mix of dance grooves along with slower tempo R&B.
Free Music Review: Chris' Sophomore CD May Need A Little Summer School Hit: 3 StarsUpon his arrival, Chris was hailed as the next Michael Jackson or Usher with his limited vocals but hot dance moves. With this CD, I sense a slight sophomore slump. While his debut CD was a strong, R&B effort that was age-appropriate and had a cohesive CD, this CD seems to find Chris trying to really prove himself and more importantly find himself, which is understandable taken that he's only 18 years old. While Wall to Wall was a misstep sounding too much like his first single from his first CD, Kiss Kiss has re-cemented, so to speak, Chris' commercial edge.
Throwed--Produced by State of Emergency and Brian Michael Cox, this 1st single kicks off the CD showing that Chris has a lot of energy. It's really not a favorite of mine with the semi-lame hand claps in the background. I guess it's a go-go song as he references in the beginning, but it's not my style. B-
Take you Down--Produced by The Underdogs and Lamar Edwards, here we find Chris trying to bring out the sexy or late-night radio cut. It's hard to imagine him at 18 being seriously taken singing this, but with the overdramatic production of the instrumentation, the Underdogs--a reliable R&B production group--make you believe that this song can work coming from Chris. B
With you--Produced by Stargate, I love Stargate productions, so this song, for me, is worth the price of admission. True, it sounds like Beyonce's Irreplaceable and Ne-Yo's Go On Girl, but its positive, feel-good message and Chris' believable, innocent vocals make this song work without question. It reminds me of a good song that Chris did before--Excuse Me, but with bigger, tighter production. This is Chris' current single, which fits this Winter season well. A+
Picture Perfect--Produced by Will.i.am and Chris Brown, featuring Will.i.am, this song has that will feel to it. Although I'm not feeling most of the uptempos on this CD, this one works with the prominent drum beats and almost a wall of sound to it. Plus, will adds his natural will-ness to the song. B+
Hold Up--Featuring Big Boi and produced by Andre Harris and Vidal Davis and Don Cheegro and Dirty Harry, I am torn on this song as to whether it works or not. Big Boi gives a strong rap, but I think too many hands are in the pot with this one because it's something about the music that sounds too kiddish and too lame to really be taken serious. The chorus just doesn't sound too well at all, but the intro is really strong. B-
you--Produced by L.O.S. this song sounds like the Chris from his debut. It works well, and the repeated "you, you, you, you" in the chorus works extremely well. The song sounds like a great album track, and it is a nice follow-up to with you. A
Damage--Produced by The Runners, this is Chris' approach to singing a ballad which slightly reminds me of his Say Goodbye cut. The song sounds good and has a strong R&B vibe to it, but with Chris' nasal, limited vocals, the song is not taken to the place it could be. It works, nevertheless. It's a nice album track A-
Wall to Wall--Produced by Sean Garret and Great Scott, this was a misstep for a first single. It is a nice, energetic strong song, but it doesn't work too well as a single. It's a good dance, concert song. A-
Help Me--Produced by The Underdogs and Rob Knox, I thought that with the Underdogs, this song is not a strong song. It's lame to say the least. It doesn't sound like The Underdogs. The chorus is tight, but that's it. B
I Wanna Be--Produced by Antonio Dixon and Eric Dawkins, this is a slow burner that fits Chris well. It sounds like a song that another R&B cat would sing, but I can't think of whom. It definitely couldn't work as a single necessarily, but after the last 2 tracks, it sounds good. A
Gimme Whatcha Got--Featuring Lil' Wayne and produced by Jazze Pha, I'm tired of Jazze Pha's samey-sounding productions that this 1 doesn't do anything for me. It sounds like so many other cuts I've heard before. Waste of CD space. C
I'll Call ya--Produced by Swizz Beatz and Sean Garrett, this song has a different feel to it than some of the others, which makes it a good song. The beat changes at certain points. It's like a stop-and-go vibe to it. It's more of an album cut than a single, but it works, nevertheless. B
Lottery--Produced by The Underdogs and Rob Knox, this mid-tempo still doesn't sound like a typical Underdogs track. It sounds like slight filler, but its unique feel works better than some of the others. Plus, who references the lottery directly throughout a song. B+
Bonus Track: Down featuring Kanye West is a great song.
Overall, the CD is decent. It's not as strong as his debut, and a lot of the tracks sound like slightly failed attempts to be singles material. Plus, there's not really a defined sound and Chris' nasal voice can get annoying after a while. For something fun and contemporary, I would recommend this.
Best 3 Tracks:

Free Music Review: Not Bad, Could Had Been Better Hit: 3 StarsChris Brown has the talent to become one of the best artists of his generation. But I feel like this album took a major step back to what his first album represented. It was overall an up and down album in my opinion, and rushed. You be the judge though if you choose to purchase.
Favorable songs for me were:
-Take You Down
-With You
-Wall to Wall
-I Wanna Be
-Down
-Kiss Kiss
