Free Music Review: Amazing solo effort

It is strange to me that people are so surprised that this record doesn't sound like any other of Chris Cornell's previous work. What are they expecting from someone who continues to break ground musically rather than revisiting the past each time a new album is made?
I also am struck by the honesty of those who say that the album grows on them after every listen, because this is certainly the case with me as well, and being a longtime fan of Chris Cornell's, I was not expecting that. I expected to be wowed off the bat, which I was in some of the songs, but others needed more attention in order to realize their greatness. After every listen, I get more out of the haunting and honest lyrics, and the complex melodies in the songs.
People who listen to this once and dismiss it are looking for run of the mill stuff. Go buy Daughtry, that other Chris that is big right now. He will likely meet your needs, not this Chris. Cornell is a surprise in every song. If you like variety, Chris Cornell is your man.

I am such a huge fan of Chris Cornell. I've been listening to him for nearly 15 years now. I've loved soundgarden, temple of the dog, audioslave and his solo projects. Carry On is so incredible and I listen to and enjoy the entire thing. Poison Eye, She'll Never Be Your Man, Scar on the Sky and Your Soul Today are great songs and worth the price of admission. The songs that touch me most deeply, though, are Arms Around Your Love, Ghosts, Finally Forever and Disappearing Act. Any of these can move me to tears on any given day for many different reasons. And Safe and Sound is one of those songs that really should be in a hymnal. It's a call from one soul to another to envision our world as a more beautiful place. This song inspires me to be a better human being and I truly hope that everyone who hears it gets the same feeling. This CD is such a truly amazing gift from a powerful songwriter/musician.Free Music Review: Cornell Delivers again!

Wow! Chris Cornell has been a favorite musician of mine for over 17 years. I was in my early 20's when grunge busted out, and I fell in love with the hard rocking sounds of Badmotorfinger and Screaming LIfe/Fopp. When Cornell's first solo album Euphoria Morning came out, I was pleasantly surprised. It really grew on me and became one of those albums I just never get tired of pulling out. Audioslave wasn't my favorite work of Cornell's by a long shot, but I thought the music was pretty good.
Now, after listening to Carry On several times through, I have to say that I am REALLY EXCITED!! This cd features some wonderful songwriting, haunting melodies, just gives me the chills. Especially the songs Ghost, Killing Birds, and She'll Never Be Your Man. I highly recommend this, if you aren't afraid of experiencing a musician's growth.

Chris Cornell is the most underrated singer in music. He has the most distinctive voice and his range is better than the majority of rock or pop singers. He has a better voice than Sting and just as good a songwriter as Elton John. It's not really a rock album but more pop/rock. His melodies always blow me away and his dynamics are great to listen to. And his lyrics are always incredible. The songwriting on this album is just as good if not better than any he's made. The musicality is really deep on this CD just like the first Audioslave CD was. There are a couple jems on this album and he turns "Billie Jean" into somewhat of a masterpiece although I don't know why he'd want to record that song. It sounds nothing like the original, thank God. Every time you listen to this you will discover something new. This is great to listen to.
