And he accomplished this without sacrificing many of the elements which make him such a unique and compelling presence. Driving rhythms, subversive Christian iconography (a personal favorite), and especially his howling, doom-laden vocals are all very much a part of this, the first Divine Horsemen album. An actual band had not yet been set, so, on this recording, contributions are made by people from various like-minded bands, including X, the Blasters, Tex And The Horseheads, Green On Red, and the Gun Club. What's amazing is how effectively Chris D uses them to create music that is powerfully evocative of his own apocalyptic intensity.
