...Jealous of Chris Knight's songwriting!On this third effort from Chris you'll find yourself clinging to the words to see what he'll say next.It really is comparable to watching a movie.This record is a little differently produced than his last efforts and the songs are more strung out in their parts than the older songs.This isn't a bad thing though, just not as simple and predictable as far as the music goes.Chris's lyrics are NEVER predictable!!All of Chris Knight cd's have had 6 or 7 standout tracks and this one is no different.The Jealous Kind,The Border,A Train Not Running,Me and This Road,*Broken Plow*,Devil Behind the Wheel,and *Long Black Highway*.The ones with the stars are my two favorites and also happen to be the only songs with just Knight and his guitar.Long Black Highway is without a doubt in the top 5 songs that Chris has recorded.It is also so dark that it's damn near spooky!He sings of a brotherlike friendship that goes sour and ends in robbery,murder,and ghosts that haunt the Long Black Highway.Broken Plow is the saddest song Chris has wrote since William.It's about a poor farmer and his family who have to leave their home and drive to California for work in order to survive.He sings "take you one last look around and shed you one last tear,for the broken plow the broken dreams and the life we're leaving here".The Jealous Kind is every bit as good as the first two records and proves without a doubt that Chris Knight is in a league all by himself!!
