Free Music Review: A great fusion of R & B and Jazz with some Hip-Hop influence
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this one on chance from another on-line company and let me say I am so glad I did! I had never heard of Chrisette Michele before this but if she keeps going the way she is, I will be buying future releases. She catches your attention with the opening track and doesn't let go until the end!

Nothing against the new generation as I actually like some of their stuff but why can't they be more like this? This is the type of R & B I grew up with or my parents grew up with. She definitely is a throwback to Elle Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. While I wasn't alive when they were hot, I have heard stuff by them and Chrisette definitely reminds me of them.

Even her look is more from a older era. While very pretty and beautiful, she can make you want to be with her without showing a bit of flesh! Don't get me wrong, I WILL look at a fine half-naked women BUT there is something to be said for leaving something to the imagination! She's following more in the lines of Alicia Keys, Jill Scott and Mary J. Blige. Women with talent that can keep their clothes on!

Bottom line, if you want your R & B with a more classic feel without much (if any) pop influence, then this album is for you! On a personal note, I hope the path she's stayed on (having moral ethics despite her stardom) is a road she will stay on. It suits her well.

Free Music Review: Exceptional and Classy Debut
Hit: 5 Stars

This girl has it all. The voice, the beauty and above all, class. Her Debut album is excellent with not one bad track. I listen to it over and over again and never get sick of it. There really isn't another artist like her out there right now. I look forward to her sophmore album.

Free Music Review: Jazz/R&B/Hip-Hop clash
Hit: 4 Stars

Something, new, exciting and different, may I dear say innovating is happening with the lyrics (and music) of Ms. Chrisette Michele, coupled with an unparalleled delivery. She comes across as a mature, young woman, whose lyrics bellow to the deep something we reach for as we age. It's refreshing to hear of a woman embracing her womanhood without the need to project herself in a less than glowing light. She actually calls attention to the standards of acceptable behavior to guard against one's emotional and mental well being (see 'if I had my way).' Her vocal delivery varies like life itself; she is easily comfortable to transition from a ballad to an uptempo melody, bring the listener along as if they've moved from the dinning room to the living room to continue the conversation. Yes, comparisons of the late jazz greats will abound, but what is even more special and appealing is when Ms. Michele doesn't remind you of any of the past great jazz singers and simply announces that Ms. Michelle is here. Its as if she's saying - 'World I demand a listening for my dedication and excellence to my craft warrents some of your precious time.'

Free Music Review: Her Lessons Paid Off!
Hit: 5 Stars

I can't think of another artist on the scene today who has crafted such a beautiful modern day rendition of the jazz and blues era of Ella, Sarah Vaughan, Billie, and Miss Natalie Cole as she proclaims in her lyrical homage. First recognized for her support on Nas project in which she truly augmented his potent rap lyrics. She is beautiful to boot, her look even has nostalgia about it, classic, etched in stone till the end of time. She is --Chrisette Michelle and you should definately not miss out on hearing her blessings.

Free Music Review: Soultry music worth listening to
Hit: 5 Stars

Her voice is so amazingly cool, soothing, & the cd is def. a great buy for customers who enjoy those elements incorporated within their musical selection. Like A Dream, Be Ok, & Good Girl are feel-good tracks that have lyrics that women can actually relate to. The lyrics are empowering as well. I really do love this album.
