Free Music Review: Cinderella Sucks?...Not Even A Little Bit

Riot67 is obviously not eduacated enough to write a rational review of this album. In fact...probably hasn't even heard this album at all. But then, what can you expect from someone who probably thinks NU Metal is a ballsy genre.
Cinderella shined in the 80's because there were very few bands doing what they did then. Did they sport the glam look? Sure. Did their music sport the glam sound? Occasionally, but very rarely. Cinderella had more of a blues based hard rock sound much in the vein of Aerosmith. That's not to say they sounded like Aerosmith, but the feel of the music was similar.
Cinderella had more depth and talent than most bands of the 80's ever thought about having. I won't mention any band names, because I don't want to offend any fans. Hell, I even like some of the lesser talented 80's bands. The key to it, was to not take it too seriously...that's something that Nirvana did, and capitalized on it for a time. But honestly, I think Nirvana's image and the general Seattle movement was filled with pretense and self importance. Just my opinion.
For Cinderella...it was about making damn good music. Not trying to change the world, but to make music that people enjoy and have a good time listening to. Another problem I had with Seattle's bands...overly melodramatic lyrics and depression personified (why in the world did people buy into that crap?)
In the middle of the whole Seattle thing, Cinderella had enough backbone to release a great album titled Still Climbing. Still Climbing showed growth both musically and lyrically, but Cinderella did not change their sound to be more radio friendly.
They did what they did and still continue to do best...they played real genuine rock n' roll. I know that term sounds a bit unheard of now days. If you don't believe me, just watch MTV if you can stomach it. Rap, R&B, and pop...no rock n' roll and definitely no true metal. Sad, but a true statement nonetheless.
If you want to hear some great rock n' roll, buy this cd, and any other releases by Cinderella. You won't be disappointed.
Also, if you like Cinderella, you owe it to yourself to check out a band called The London Quireboys (in the US) or just simply The Quireboys (everywhere else). The Quireboys are one of the few bands out there still making real rock n' roll albums.
