Free Music Notes for Cinnamon Girl: Women Artists Cover Neil Young for Charity

Free Music Review: Neil's Ladies
Hit: 4 Stars

This collection of women's voice treatments of Neil Young's songs is everything I had expected. There are some are real gems. The use of all women's voices and creativity add an interesting slant on Neil's songs demonstrating their breadth and true human connections. I enjoyed the artists and group choices made by American Laundromat Records. The CD, for the most part, avoids the problem of disjointed sounds many multi-group artist tributes suffer from, flowing nicely together from various styles and sound variations. It is a bit short at a combined 82 minutes but is still quite enjoyable. I know as a Neil Young fan that I will enjoy this for many years to come. It will join the ranks of good tributes such as.This Note's for You Too!: A Tribute to Neil Young and The Bridge: A Tribute to Neil Young. The charity cause that this CD was made for is also very special. I lost a sister to cancer and I respect and appreciate the producer, Mr. Spadaro's motivation of the loss of his mother. A worthy cause and a good tribute of Neil's music.

Free Music Review: Excellent Tribute and Excellent Cause
Hit: 5 Stars

This is an unbelievably good tribute to one of my favorite artists. Neil Young's songs have always been a part of my life and hearing women reinterpret his most popular songs is just brilliant. Tanya Donelly, Britta Phillips, and Lori McKenna turn in my favorite tracks. Dala's slow piano-inspired "Ohio" is beautiful. Jill Sobule does a very hip version of "Down By The River" and Elk City's 'Helpless" is heartbreaking and gorgeous. There's so many good songs on this double-CD it's hard to choose favorites however because they are always changing. With all proceeds going to breast cancer charity, I've already purchased several as gifts. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this one!!!

Free Music Review: Bad disc #2
Hit: 1 Stars

Although I love the music in this set, being a huge NY fan, I have now received two sets, both of which have bad disc #2's. The recording is very distorted and "wobbly" and seems to be a pressing error. Please check your disc 2 carefully when you get it.

Free Music Review: Harold Mann screws up again!
Hit: 3 Stars

I think it's the above reviewer who is incapable of deciphering release dates. This cd was available everywhere (including ITunes) on February 12th.

Please stick to reviewing the music, not the release dates!
