Free Music Notes for City Of Angels: Music From The Motion PictureFree Music Review: Your Guardian Angel demands you hear this beautiful CD Hit: 5 Stars
This soundtrack is so true to the story of the film , it also stands alone as a masterpiece as a sort of concept CD. Anyway the lowdown: Sarah Maclachlan's `Angel' and Alanis Morissettes `Uninvited' give virtuoso performances. It's a consistent CD every track is either cool, rocking, or melancholy. The last 4 tracks are my fave by Gabriel Yared who won an Oscar for his score on `The English Patient' he also scored the music for `Betty Blue' Message in A Bottle' and `The Lover' , The 14th track ( City OF Angels ) is so emotive climaxing in a crescendo of Angels screaming in a mass falsetto of heartbreak and lament. There is nothing to compare it to with exception to ` Passion / The Last Temptation Of Christ'. I recommend this to anyone as its musical variation , lyrical consistency , and EFFECT is timeless , buy it today and I can guarantee you will be buying some of the other stuff from the compilation of artists who appear on this soundtrack.Someone once said of Angels that the beat in your heart is the flapping of Angels wings , guarding us from pain , when our hearts break they take our soul to God who reincarnates it in to a new host so we have a new chance of finding truelove.
Free Music Review: City of Angels Soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
I love this soundtrack! There are songs here to make you get up and go - Eric Clapton's "Further On Up The Road" & songs that you can just chill out to - U2's sublime "If God Will Send His Angels". Alanis Morissette proves once again what an amazing talent she is with "Uninvited" which starts off softly and climaxes into a mix of strings, percussion and electric guitars. Jude produces a jewel in the thought provoking "I Know" while "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls blends together parts of the film's story with a great guitar laden melody. Gabriel Yared's score is wonderful, just sit back, close your eyes and let those tear-jerking melodies speak for themselves. However the highlight of this soundtrack for me is the spine tingling "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. The simple piano melody is hauntingly beautiful and with Sarah's silky smooth vocals, the two combine to make a song which will leave you with the hairs standing on the back of your neck - absolute perfection. Nobody should be without this soundtrack. If I had to sum it up in just one word - Heavenly!
Free Music Review: Something for everyone! Hit: 5 Stars
I could have sworn I already reviewed this CD, but perhaps I got carried away with the delete button? If a review isnt helpful after a certain time, I usually let it go. I had my second copy of the CD in my car when I picked up a friend for lunch. I have a bad habit of changing CD's,and putting the prior one on the passenger seat. Well I heard "crunch" when she got in the car, oops! So Im now at purchase number 3 (not bad over 12 years) lol.
This was a great movie, but it has the worst ending. EVER. But the soundtrack is one of the best,
and worth another purchase. It has a little bit of everything. There is the haunting "Uninvited" by Alanis Morissette-itll give you goosy bumps when the strings kick in! And theres the slinky "Red House"-one of Hendrix's best. Paula Coles sultry "Feelin' Love" has a great beat, but unless you want to blush a thousand times, dont look up the lyrics, HA! The moody song "IRIS" by the goo goo dolls is awesome, and the instrumental moments moving. There are other songs on the CD, all of them terrific, but these are probally the most played for me. Great CD, recomend!
Free Music Review: Truly inspirational CD Hit: 5 Stars
This is a beautiful collection of many inspirational and gorgeous songs. True, some of them are pretty bad ... but they are made up for with beautiful tracks by some of today's best artists. The true highlight on here is Sarah McLachlan's song Angel, which took adult contemporary radio by storm and made it to a few major compilation CDs. This song has beautiful lyrics and is a very nice piece of work. And who hasn't heard Alanis Morisette's Uninvited? This was a huge single that was on almost every radio station. Another big single from this was Iris by Goo Goo Dolls. This is another great song with quality lyrics. I think Iris is definately one of the best on the album. U2's track If God Will Send His Angels is another standout here, and it's ranks right up there for me with Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me and With Or Without You for my favorite U2 song. Of course Paula Cole also does an excellent job with her track. If you want some really, really, really good music than definately get this soundtrack. It's one of my faves in my collection.
Free Music Review: LIVE EACH DAY AS IF IT IS YOUR LAST; ONE DAY IT WILL BE. Hit: 5 Stars
First of all I loved this movie. When I heard Sarah McLachlan's song "Angel", I knew I was buying the soundtrack. I love the entire CD. My least favorites are John Lee Hooker's and Eric Clapton's songs; however, with the Great Jimi Hendrix on there, he makes them fit in. I do agree with another reviewer about Eric Clapton, his song should have been "Tears in Heaven!"My favorites are: "Angel", "Feeling Love", all of Gabriel Yared's 4 songs at the end, "Uninvited", "Iris", "If God will send His angels"...each and every song on the CD is awe inspiring! I think some of these artists must have experienced OBE'S and/or NDE'S (out of body and/or near death experiences) because they have taken their music to a higher level than most. I have to admit I think the CD would be better without JL Hooker's track, and replacing Eric Clapton's track with "Tears in Heaven." I would really like to give it 4 1/2 stars but since I can't I will round up to 5.
