Free Music Notes for Live at Shea Stadium (Snyr)Free Music Review: Blows any other live Clash recording away Hit: 5 Stars
Ok, so the date is Oct. 13, 1982. The Who are headlining and The Clash are touring in support of their latest opus, Combat Rock. The performance will prove pivotal in their world following, particularly in the US. Commercial hits, Rock the Casbah and Should I Stay or Should I Go, are played that evening. Although the band were very much pulling apart, namely the strained relationship of Strummer and Jones, they play to an audience of about 50,000 at the legendary Shea Stadium with picture perfect results. The sound quality is remarkable but should come as no small wonder considering Glynn Johns (The Who fame) is recording the event. This would be one of the last times that Strummer, Jones and Simonon played at their most meaningful. The Clash were only too close to conquering the rest of the world at the time they broke up and it's a shame that their potential was never realized. For Clash fans who know, they didn't need to achieve that level of success to reach the hearts of those who listened to them (or luckier still were able to attend one of their performances). They are missed in a world that lacks innovation and creativity. Here is a snapshot in beautiful, untainted, and unrelenting sound. The only band that ever mattered.
Free Music Review: One of the Best Concerts in NYC Hit: 5 Stars
This is a memorable concert for those who actually got the chance to go. It is awesome to see that this eventually made it to CD. The Clash, David Johansen and The Who as the main act made a historical concert event on October 13th and 14th of 1982 not seen since the Beatles at Shea. When I was there it was the most exciting concert I've ever been too, it was jammed packed. Back then I was 17 and stayed out super late and then had school the next day. It was great! If you were young and into Rock back then you will definetely enjoy this CD. I wish there was a DVD Video of these concerts so I can watch it on my HD TV and find myself in the crowd. Great memories now on CD!
Free Music Review: A Nice Slice ofHistory Hit: 5 Stars
This album is a lot of fun. Sure, there are some great songs not included in the set list, but keep in mind, The Clash was an opening act this night.
In the car, my three-year-old daughter insists on listening to "Police On My Back" over and over again. She loves singing the days of the week at the top of her lungs. I'll take Mick Jones over Raffi any day!
Enjoy.
Free Music Review: SURPRISED!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I was a HUGE fan of The Clash...I thought Topper Headon was part of the reason that made them great. What a surprise then to hear this VERY inspired performance with the not-as-great Terry Chimes. Not any more...Terry Chimes ROCKS on this CD! The Clash completely ROCK my world on this CD! Excellent!
Free Music Review: Fantastic CD! Hit: 5 Stars
