Free Music Notes for Classic Williams: Romance of the Guitar

Free Music Review: The Best One Disc Compilation of the Man That's Out There!
Hit: 5 Stars

If you had to call modern classical guitar by another name, it would be John Williams. A student of none other than the brilliant Andres Segovia himself, John has shown over the years to have learnt a great deal from the master and has himself developed simply impeccable technique.

As a guitarist myself who has been struggling all these years with "Cavatina", it always amazes me how effortlessly John makes the tune sound so simple and as if two guitarists are playing, one for the accompanyment and one for the melody and yet it's all him! Not only are the tracks representative of John's great talent but they also represent some of the most famous and challenging pieces to play.

Another great example of this is "Asturias(Leyenda) by Albeniz, a hauntingly beautiful and deceptively simple-sounding piece. We also get pieces that span the centuries from J.S. Bach and Vivaldi to Stanley Myers and York ending with the brilliant second movement of Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez".

Although the sound quality isn't brilliant as some tracks sound better mastered than others, overall this is a great one disc introduction to John Williams' work and comes highly recommended.

Free Music Review: FOR ALL JOHN WILLIAMS FANS - A CD WELL WORTH BUYING
Hit: 5 Stars

Having listened to this CD I though it was outstanding. As a John William fan myself, I always find his technique absulutely brilliant and some of the tracks on there I haven't heard before, which is a bonus. I have quite a few CD's of him playing solo and together with Julian Bream. Also the group Sky he was with back in the early 1980's. This CD I have to say has got to be the best one yet in my collection of John Williams CD's.

I would recommend this CD to all John Williams fans. All so, this CD is genuine and is not a copy from the real thing, which is nice to know. So at least you know what you are buying is worth it's value for money.

It's a good CD for background soft music to enhance the atmosphere of the evening of romance.

For any beginners who are learning to play the classical guitar, I would recommend that you purchase a copy of this and listen to world's greatest classical guitar player at work. That is my opinion anyway.

Free Music Review: Ethereal and Transcending
Hit: 5 Stars

This album builds a tapestry of diversity, depth, and breadth that few artists can emote as Williams has. His love for the music of the guitar and willingness to lovingly and abundantly share it differentiates Williams as a unique spirit. Many of his contemporaries would do well to study at his feet and realize the exhilarating joy of performing for the sake of, and beauty of, the art as Williams freely and unpretentiously reveals. You will be lifted up to a rarely experienced aural realm by this masterpiece of passion, grace, joy, and love. Truly, this work is a genuine monument and praise to all who have contributed to Williams' transcendence to the consummate performer and artist he has become.

Free Music Review: Truly one of the best...
Hit: 5 Stars

I was originally turned on to John Williams a couple of years ago when I saw a television showing of one of his concerts. I then got on Amazon and ordered his "From the Jungles of Paraguay" CD, and just purchesed this CD recently. Though I've only had an interest in classical music for a short time, this has got to be one of the finest classical guitarists of our time. His technique and precision is flawless, as best displayed on track #5. His interpretation of track#19 is one of the prettiest I've ever heard. This is great music to read to, eat to, paint to, play along with( if you dare)...and nod off to. He has definitely gained a new fan.

Free Music Review: The Aranjuez Adagio is Perfection
Hit: 5 Stars

The second movement adagio of the Aranjuez concert is one of my favourite pieces, a very difficult one to get right. I've listened to well over a dozen variations, the one on this CD, track 19, is an absolute gem. Just by itself is reason enough to own this CD. The only other Aranjuez performance that's even worth mentioning in the same breath is Julian Bream's, track 2 of the CD titled just "Julian Bream", with the Monteverdi orchestra. Both are just stunning performances, as close to perfection as it gets. Julian's is a bit stronger on the guitar than the one here.
