I usually do not buy singles, but this CD is a must-have. Clay Aiken's haunting voice is showcased to perfection in these two songs. Bridge over Troubled Water is a remake of an old 1970's hit. He adds just a hint of gospel sound to a pop song, and the result is a passionate and stirring performance that will leave you clamoring for more. When he hits that last note your first impulse will be to hit the back button and listen to the song again, but hold on, because the second song is even better. This is the Night is destined to become a romantic classic. It is somewher between a pop song/power ballad, but shows a power and range that you usually don't see in male pop performances. It is hard to describe, but when he sings "lift me up" I actually feel my heart lifting. The lyrics of both songs are beautiful, and Clay's voice (pitch, power, range) is amazing. This is a CD that will appeal to all ages. Finally, a pop star that can actually sing, with lyrics that you can actually understand and enjoy. And That Voice! The only problem is that you will find it hard to wait until his full length album comes out in September.Free Music Review: music with meaning

i was very worried of music's direction today. i feel alot of music today is incredibly shallow and thrives upon the use of technology to enhance meaningless beats and deprive music of it's emotional value. Then comes clay, a wake up call to the music industry today. clay's singing style reflects old singers like sinatra and elton john. clay thrives upon strong melodies and power ballads to show off his tremendous range and perfect pitch. his pitch amazes me most the fact that he can hit the absolute dead center of the note and just suck you into it. he changes colors with his voice going from rich, to light, to raspy, to crisp and clean. clay needs the best song writers for him to bring us all back to emotional, powerful, meaningful music.as for the cd the song choices were good. bridge over troubled water is a showstopping twist on the original and gives the whole song a new meaning. incredible. this is the night is a technically difficult power ballad showing off clays range and skill. it's got a catchy melody that clay can run with and get it stuck in your head, but good luck singing along with him.

I eagarly awaited June 10th to buy Clay and Ruben's cds. I was not disappointed. Bridge Over Troubled Water is fantastic and This Is The Night is destined to become a #1 song and is a perfect song for weddings. Clay's voice is definately a gift from God and I thank American Idol for introducing Clay to the world. I fell in love with his voice when he first auditioned, was heartbroken when he lost out to Ruben and Kimberly and then was estatic when he won America's vote on the Wild Card show.I admire this young man not only for his tremendous talent but also for his humble spirit, his big heart and his desire to help those less fortunate. He is my family's American Idol and I look foward to his full length cd.
There are those who think his voice is suited for the older generation but I disagree. My 22 year old son likes him also.
Even if they are right, there are enough baby boomers to make Clay a very successful and wealthy man. I know I plan to be around to enjoy his music for another 40 to 50 years.
Clay, may God continue to bless you and thank you for blessing us with your voice.

Free Music Review: Clay is incredible!

My family watched American Idol unfailing this year, mostly because of Clay. What a joy to watch him grow in both looks and in talent during the 12 week series. He has a quality and power to his voice that is unbelievable. We even downloaded his demo CDs from the Internet, and have enjoyed both his American Idol music, and his previous charity CDs. A musical genius has been discovered! The mixing of his single is a bit of a disappointment however. Although no fault of Clays, they mixed the background vocals and choir too loud, which overshadows Clays powerful voice. To those that dont understand music it may seem that Clay lacks power or clarity. They did the same to his song on the American Idol Season 2 CD. I hope they rectify this problem when they release his CD this coming fall, because other than the talent of the singer, and the quality of the written music, the mixing of a CD can make or break it.
Regardless, this CD is well worth it! His voice is absolutely intoxicating! He is also a wonderful influence and example of charity and humility. I will be a loyal fan for life!

I must say I'm glad to see this included "Bridge Over Troubled Water" instead of "On the Wings of Love." You're getting 2 'new' songs from him if you already own the Season 2 CD. Both tracks show Clay's range very well and are suited for him.I will say the original song "This is the Night" is the best AI-created 'original' song to come out so far. The song matches perfectly to Clay versus what they had given Kelly and Ruben to sing for their first go-rounds. Their incredibly shining moments came from other songs, but the producers got it right on the money by having Clay sing this song. Although the AI judges weren't too keen on the song, I feel a second listen would be in order. The music and lyrics are both very bold and empowering. It gave me the same feeling as when listening to Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." This is going to be on my personal playlist for some time to come.
I can only hope this will be only a glimpse as what we can expect from Clay when his full-length album hits the streets. This is an excellent CD Single.
