Free Music Review: Perfect
Hit: 5 Stars

During the finale to the second season, Randy Jackson, I believe, said to Clay that when he first heard This is the Night (prior to Clay's performance) he didn't like it. Then, upon hearing Clay sing it, with perfect vocals and impressive poise, he Jackson changed his mind. He said something like, "Dog, you made it your own." Even Simon liked it.

Then Clay sang Bridge Over Troubled Water. Simon and Garfunkel are no slouches, but Clay's live performance, I'm sorry to say, topped them, and for the first time, Clay didn't seem remotely awkward on stage. He was at home, this was his element, and he ended the song with such potent punctuation that I find myself choked up and speechless. He threw himself into that performance with more gusto than I'd ever seen him muster during the season - and mind you, I was rooting for him from the beginning, and even if he was awkward on stage from time to time, I really didn't care. Still, this performance was astonishing. Simon himself said, "I think with this song you may well have won this competition". I was surprised and disappointed that he didn't. It would have been nice to see Clay's face in the opening credits of the third and fourth seasons of American Idol rather than Ruben with his ridiculous hat. (Just doesn't look good on a guy his size. Sorry.)

I was very happy that Bridge Over Troubled water was included on this CD, although I must admit that I wish it had been the live performance. Still, while the live performance topped Simon and Garfunkel, the recorded version was still excellent and did Simon and Garfunkel proud.

Free Music Review: Five stars for adorable Clay
Hit: 5 Stars

Five stars for this new adorable young talent. The music is just an afterthought this time. I had a very similar reaction to Clay that I had to Josh Groban. The voice, the charming, respectable personality and the immense potential of untapped talent are what matters. This is what the world needs more of.

Years of churning out predictable, digitally enhanced vocals from prettyboys and tarts is wearing on my nerves. There are plenty of potential customers in this world over the age of 21 who seem to be largely ignored by the industry. We have jobs, we have expendable income, we have moved beyond the fads and the trends. We have TASTE and we want QUALITY. The music industry can respond by continuing to tap the REAL talent. They've begun to do just that with Josh Groban, Norah Jones, Michael Buble and Peter Cincotti. If there's any justice in this world they will continue that trend with Clay Aiken. Contrary to what the Celine-hating popular establishment assumes, "Adult Contemporary" and "Romantic Ballad" are not nasty words. I like to think we live in a world where having the God-given natural talent Clay posesses could never be discounted as "too Broadway."

Clay posesses an awe-inspiring set of pipes. With a little bit of musical training (my jaw hit the floor upon learning he has no formal training) he really could be at least as successful as that other wonderful young performer with the voice of an angel, Josh Groban. Josh is breaking new ground in the industry. I would love nothing more than for Clay to follow his lead and for both of them to change the face of popular music.

Free Music Review: Clay's Magic
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD by Clay Aiken is magical. His voice and his range in these songs are hair-raising.

I have heard "Bridge Over Troubled Water", many times performed by many artist, but the only one that I can compare this one to is the one done by Elvis Presley. In several lines of the song, I can really here Elvis-like tones in his voice. The lyrics, while so well written, is greatly enhanced by the arrangement of the back-up singers and the musical arrangements. Clay really gives it his all. When I received the CD, and played it for the first time, I actually got chills. His voice really is Magical and each time I play it, I enjoy it even more.

This Is the Night is just as wonderfully performed and arranged as "The Bridge...". The first thing that crossed my mind, was "What a wonderful song to be used in a wedding". I can't say enough about both of the arrangements, especially the use of the trumphet in the musical arrangement.

For all of those who have not purchased a copy of this CD, I highly recommend it. It will provide many hours of beautiful music that one never tires of. I cannot wait for his CD album when it is released. I believe it will be a chart topper, when it is released or very soon after. Clay Aiken, in my opinion, has many wonderful years of performing and entertaining us in the near future.
By-the-way, I had the opportunity to obtain a copy of a CD made by a local recording company before he was seen on American Idol.

When I heard the songs and his strong voice, I knew that he would do well on the show.

Free Music Review: A True Legend
Hit: 5 Stars

First, I must say I was looking through the reviews for this CD and I am delighted to see that the majority agree with my point of view... Clay Aiken is simply amazing. However, I see a few reviews that make me cringe. Why do people insist on comparing Clay to Ruben? The show is over. They are both recording artists in their own right now. They also have two very different kinds of voices. Now, I of course would choose Clay over Ruben any day because he is simply the better singer. As someone once said, "he has the instrument".

Clay Aiken truly has the most beautiful voice you will ever hear. He can move you unlike any other artist and make you feel the emotions he is so successful in conveying with his voice. His version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" has brought many to tears simply because it is in fact so amazing. Yes, the choir is too loud, but if you can overlook that, this is the most brilliant song, and I dare say it is better than the original.

"This is the Night" will be a true American love song classic. It is hauntingly beautiful and truly does Clay's wonderful talent justice. I fell in love with this song the second it was performed on American Idol, and the single was even better than I could've imagined.

Clay Aiken truly does have the voice of an angel. It simply cannot be described better than that. If you think there is no talent in this young man, you simply have no idea what real talent is. Listen to Frank Sinatra or Elvis. That's real talent, and that's real Clay.

Free Music Review: 5 for a great talent, minus one for a clunky production.
Hit: 5 Stars

What were the producer and arrangers thinking when they took this wonderful talent and subjected it to...actually, "sub-
merged it in" is a better phrase...decidedly un-heavenly choral music? Obviously, we can't fire Clive Davis, but somebody ought to take Ferrera and Naftaly out and ..... them (I'll let you choose the punishment). This clunky clunker is a horrendous first-display of brilliant Clay's voice. You can't even hear it most of the time. I bought it, then dumped it in my wastebasket, and something tells me Clay would be glad of that. Clay - you are pleased that I tossed it out, aren't you? Why would you want it around years from now? No, no, no, no...garlic, crosses, stakes...musical monsters begone!

O.K. You're probably sick of my whining by now, so I'll deliver my final verdict: despite this cheap, frapped-up disaster, CLAY AIKEN WILL BE VICTORIOUS. I expect nothing less from Clive Davis in the future. He really must make certain that the Great Clay's career is not RUINED by having appeared on American Idol. That would be a true
tragedy. CLIVE - ARE YOU LISTENING???????? Do right by Clay or his fans will come after you with a ........(you supply the instrument of torture...perhaps a really sozzled Bob
Dylan on the harmonikey).

GET WITH IT! IF THE ARRANGERS OF THIS CD HAVE ALSO ARRANGED CLAY'S UPCOMING ALBUM, I FEEL SORRY FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED, ESPECIALLY THE FANS. CLAY DESERVES BETTER. DON'T CHEAP OUT ON
