Free Music Review: #1 in my heart
Hit: 5 Stars

In a world of reality TV, "American Idol" is king.

The heart-tugging drama, the nail-biting suspense, the fabulous Broadway show tunes. I can't think of a better way to spend my evenings, than with the country's most (and I do mean MOST) talented singers and entertainers.

I think it's great that America has decided to abandon the "credibility" and "decision-making ability" of the music industry. By manufacturing pop stars, we are guaranteeing ourselves a long and promising future of cookie-cutter, radio-friendly music. And I, for one, couldn't be happier.

As the (wrongly appointed) runner-up of this year's "American Idol", Clay Aiken proved to the world that he is a tremendous superstar, ready to infect the airwaves with his beautiful voice. Even though (former "American Idol" winner) Kelly Clarkson's astonishing album sales have raised the bar for all musicians, I'm sure that Aiken is up for the challenge. Clay's career will undoubtedly have the longevity to carry him to the ranks of the Beatles, Madonna, and Elvis Presley, et al.

His first single -- featuring "This is the Night" and the stunning cover version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" -- immortalizes the insurmountable abilities of this young crooner. Both of these songs are proof-positive that Aiken is poised for levels of greatness that the world has never seen.

Buckle your seatbelts, Earth - because here comes Clay Aiken!

Free Music Review: Clay all the Way!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have heard a few fans claim that in Bridge Over Troubled Water the choir was too loud and in This is the Night, the bass was too loud.

Here are MY thoughts:

Bridge Over Troubled Water: Yes, the choir is a little loud for being "back-up" to Clay. Although they do NOT overpower Clay's beautiful and powerful voice. This is a longer version than what he sang at the American Idol finals and is JUST AS BEAUTIFUL! I was NOT disappointed, although after hearing bad comments by a couple people, I did not expect much.

This is the Night: The same goes for this song. I heard that the bass was too loud. All I have to say is...what are you talking about? Clay's voice is what I noticed, aside from the beautiful piano and other instruments playing in the background. This song I think is about the same length as on the American Idol finale but it is also JUST AS BEAUTIFUL!

Clay is so talented and his voice is like none other I have heard before. You have heard Clay compared to Barry Manilow and Frank Sinatra, but I think there is no one he can be compared to. He is spectacular and his good and pure and HUMBLE personality is very nice to see in a pop star these days. I recommend buying this single. If you have heard Clay before, you know what I'm talking about. But if you have not heard Clay sing, spend a few dollars to hear a taste of what this guy can do!

The only thing you can regret is missing out on listening to an upcoming star that will rise to the top.

Free Music Review: 5 stars for vocals, 3 for production
Hit: 5 Stars

When I saw Clay's first audition on American Idol I said "that's the one." And if it hadn't been for the ridiculously obvious favoritism & manipulation of the judges and producers, Clay indeed would have won. But that's all water under the bridge. This CD showcases his vocals nicely, but not well. The production does lose him in the mix quite a few times on Bridge, which is a good gospel rendition of the song. The second song is a pretty good song. It could do with a sleeker arrangement and orchestration. Hopefully Clay will take a cue from Kelly Clarkson and re-do both these songs for his CD. If Mr. Aiken were to stumble onto this review I'd advise him that once his contract obligations have been fulfilled, get producers who will do him justice. Hey, why not take up Mr. Sedaka on his offer? The man's a pop genius & legend.
As a very involved fan, I always search out everything I can on an artist. I was able to locate Clay's demos. Even then, his voice was pure gold. A few of those vocal tracks could be simply lifted onto new arrangements and he'd have hits galore. This is an artist to watch evolve. And if he's smart, he may transition occasionally to Broadway along with a huge list of pop stars most recently Joey Fatone, Kevin Richardson, & Toni Braxton. Broadway's all pop & rock anyway these days, and it would certainly be an honor to sing there.
Anyway, buy this CD. It's flawed, but good. The promise is certainly there.

Free Music Review: True American Idol
Hit: 5 Stars

It's been a few years since the last time I've bought a CD. Nothing has really appealed to me. That is, until Clay Aiken stumbled onto the music scene....

And I am NOT disappointed. This CD is everything I hoped it'd be. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is wonderful. Some may argue that the choir drowns out his vocals, which I do agree on in some extent, but it does not do any major damage to the quality of the song. It'll put a smile on your face, and you'll be compelled to sing along every time you hear it. This man does wonders with his voice....you can actually feel the song, and that's what makes Clay so amazing.

Every good artist needs a love ballad, and "This Is The Night" fits Clay perfectly. In my opinion, this is a hard song to sing *I've tried many times, each ending in failure* and for Clay to just dominate a song with such beauty and grace truly shows his great talent. This is a truly a beautiful song...something I can imagine playing at my wedding someday. *and I will too!* Clay just puts so much of himself into his music, it's no wonder he has such a large and loyal fanbase.

If this is any indication of what his full album is gonna be like, all I can say is I CANNOT wait. And if there's one question in your mind right now...it shouldn't be whether to buy this CD or not...because that's a no brainer. The real question is...how the heck did this guy NOT win American Idol having the superior voice and CD single over Ruben??

Free Music Review: Proof positive that Clay is the American Idol
Hit: 5 Stars

Despite rumors of rigged and biased votes, Clay Aiken has rarely disappointed as a performer. His undisturbed spot at #1 of Amazon's Music Top Sellers since the announcement of this CD's release proves just how far and wide his fanbase spreads.

A true sign of a great performer is how they sound live. The fact that Clay sounds hardly better in a mix than live is further proof that he can do anything and he can go as far as he wants in the music industry. This single, containing two songs featured in the final week of American Idol Season 2, is an incredible showcase of Clay's talent. Bridge Over Troubled Water is (almost) the most passionate rendition of Simon and Garfunkel's ballad (next to Linda Eder's...). It's obvious he feels the power of the words and notes throughout. The second track on the CD, This is the Night (an original song written for Clay) almost indicates that the writers expected he would win. It has Kelly Clarkson's A Moment Like This written all over it. What might otherwise be perceived as "cute" and sometimes on the edge of cheesy, Clay magically manages to make powerful and stunning (not unlike Kelly's hit singles).

This CD, while containing only two tracks, still exhibits a powerhouse of talent in and of itself, and if nothing else, will whet your appetite for Clay's future musical endeavors. Keep an eye (and ear) on him for his debut album later this Summer, as well as in the long run.
