Free Music Review: Run To MOAM - and buy!
Hit: 5 Stars

Great first album that shows all of his many "voices" - and if you're just looking for the out of the park songs, IMO they are: Run to Me, The Way, Invisible, and Touch.
Review by Song Title, in descending order of Top 10 hits:
1) This Is The Night - It already was a #1 hit, so..
1) Run To Me - This song just tugs at every emotion for anyone who has had a relationship like this. Great Song and exceptionally well sung.
1) The Way - Can't get it out of my head. Addictive.
1) Invisible - Anyone who went to any of the concerts already loves this song and the way he sang it. As he promotes it on TV, wistful wishes go out that he could do more of those tugs, clutches, etc. as in concert downloads of Minnesota, Raleigh, Charlotte, Anaheim, or Albany Invisible. Okay, like any concert Invisible.
1) Touch - Great beat, great song, and addictive.
2) Measure of A Man - Great song - more of his AI2 voice.
3) I Will Carry You - Great song - takes a few listens to get use to the breaks that are different from the promo versions. Also, for those who love his AI2 voice, the way long "day" and "you" are sung take a while to get used to....
4) No More Sad Song - How could you go wrong with a song sung to those three judges (who?) of AI2?
5) I Survived You - A great song for every person who's ever had at least one broken heart. However - the ending is too, well, nice. Would have liked to hear a "harder" ending for this one.
6) Shine - Sorry, this song sounds like the Beatles. Not a fan
7) Perfect Day - Sorry, don't like the main chorus, ie "Its Gonna Be a Perfect Day" - can't put my finger on what bugs me - listened to it three times coming back from Rochester after buying the album at the release party - but I now have my CD programed to skip it. Heard through interviews that its one of his favorites. Oh well, sorry, not a fan of this one either.

There you go - five potential #1 hits. With 5 more that are top 10 or top 40 hits. Of the more negative reviews I've read, I have only this to say: Go back and listen to other CD albums they have given great reviews to and see how many of the songs on those albums are in hindsight REALLY good. I doubt you would find more than 2 or 3 per ablum. I found 10 on this one. On a first ablum no less. Way to go Clay!

Free Music Review: What I expected...and more!
Hit: 5 Stars

So, there I am, browsing around amazon.com when all of a sudden, I pass by this. I raise an eyebrow, thinking this CD should be released next month, not bothering to look at the release date, which I should've. So I click on it an already see reviews for it and that it ALREADY has been released! The next day, I quickly went to a store and bought the CD. Here's my opinion on the songs

Invisible- This song can easily get stuck in your head. The chorus is so fun to sing along to. 5/5

I Will Carry You- I definitely like the lyrics to this song. Clay sings it perfectly! 5/5

The Way- When I first listened to it, I thought it was a different version of Elton John's "Something About The Way You Look Tonight", mainly because of the first line, but it wasn't. A nice lil' slow song. I like the chorus 4/5

When You Say You Love Me- This song was written by Darren Hayes (of Savage Garden), by the way. I thought it sounded a bit Darren Hayes-ish ('specially from his solo album in a way) Quite a fun song! 4/5

No More Sad Songs- Another resemblence to Sir Elton's "Sad Songs (They Say So Much) but the only thing they have in common is the titles! It's got a nice tempo. 4/5

Run To Me- Oh, this is a "purty" song. Love it..the lyrics, the music, Clay's voice, everything. 5/5

Shine- A very, very, VERY nice encourageing song. I espeically like Clay's voice in this song. 5/5

I Survived You- Very sad lyrics but a very good song. Again, Clay's voice is outstanding. Some clever lyrics, again I'm especially fond of the chorus. 5/5

This is the Night- You should all know this song from the single and from the show. Awesome vocals in this one. 5/5

Perfect Day- Oh, his voice gives me goosebumps in the chorus when he sings "Just as long as she's in my arms". Ah, sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it. 5/5

Measure of a Man- This is my personal favorite on the album. I love the lyrics and the meaning to this song. 10/5!

Touch- Very fun, head boppin', wanna-sing-along-to-it song. I'm not really fond of the lyrics eventhough it seems like a popular song. 3.8/5

Great job Clay! I expect we should have more from him in years to come. Whenever I hear him sing, the muscles in my knees tense and freeze. It's as if I'm FORCED to stand there and forget everything around me. He's THAT good, ladies and gentlemen! Buy this album if you like t-a-l-e-n-t.

Free Music Review: Impressed...
Hit: 5 Stars

When I got "Measure of a Man," I actually wondered what I was doing. I got it thinking that it would be a horrible album with horrible songs, lyrics, and beats. I thought it would be a waste of a CD and a spot in my stereo. Truthfully, I thought I was just wasting some time on it. I figured the album would be just a lot of trash that couldn't make it to the garbage can - I was once AGAINST all of this. ...until I listened to the album.

I've been reading a lot of reviews from fans and anti-fans of Clay and the album, and I've noticed a few things from both sides. The fans state a lot of the same things in each review, while the anti-fans don't really state anything at all. Another thing I would just like to point out to a great number of anti-fans that say that nothing else "big" came out that week running against Clay, and gave such examples of Eminem and 50 Cent, you must also remember that Clay and Eminem/50 Cent are in two complete different genres of music, meaning the persons buying one album is probably not going to buy the other albums anyway, at least not at first. And at first I'm not meaning the first day, first week, or perhaps even first month. Several music fans that enjoy different ends of the music business typically buy one genre of music while its "hot" while they wait until the other genres "cool down" before even considering purchasing one of their albums. So giving examples such as 50 Cent and Eminem weren't exactly the best examples, and may not even be close enough or relevant enough to even be considered as competitors.

Now, to the actual album. I believe the album is wonderful; it has great highs to it. As I stated previously, I expected this album to be horrific. I didn't expect to actually like any of the songs; I half-way expected to get the album and then allow it to collect dust. My favorite songs include the following:
1 - Invisible
3 - The Way
4 - When You Say You Love Me (a remake of a Darren Hayes song - great job!)
8 - I Survived You

I did to this album what the old saying says: "I expected the worst and hoped for the best." I hoped the album would be good, but expected it to be horrible. I'm glad I was wrong.

This is my review. These are my thoughts, my opinions, my views. And just think... I cheered for Ruben...

Free Music Review: Clay Aiken - A Classic
Hit: 5 Stars

I love this album, love it love it love it!

Invisible - This is his first single, it's catchy, albeit a little creepy (we've all heard it... "If I was invisible, then I could just watch you in your room"). It's a tad overproduced for my liking, but still great.

I Will Carry You - Such a sweet song. Tugging at the heartstrings, Clay sounds great, it's catchy, it's fun, it's lovable, it rocks.

The Way - Clay himself stated in an interview with Billboard that it's "boy bandy-ish". It is. But it's good, not one of the best, but still very enjoyable.

When You Say You Love Me - Not the kind of thing I would have expected out of Clay, it's got a VERY poppish feel, but Clay's a pop artist, so...still a good song, but not one of the best.

No More Sad Songs - Extremely powerful, extremely angsty, and you get to hear the fullness of Clay's voice in this somewhat angry/bitter ballad. This is definitely a standout song on the album, and it shows off Clay's versatility.

Run To Me - another one of those big heartbreaker songs. He totally plays around with the emotions of the lyrics to bring the listener in, and it works, because this song is amazing.

Shine - a very sweet song, a "make your dreams come true" type of message. Again, his voice comes through and reminds you why you love Clay Aiken so much.

I Survived You - this song needs a few listens before it grows on you, but once it does, there is no turning back, because the power in his voice will keep you listening.

This Is The Night - it hasn't changed. Still beautiful!

Perfect Day - a very rock feel in this song, his voice is...wow. So strong and amazing and this is the song that, in my opinion, you can really get a feel for that. He has the ability to carry any emotion through his voice and you can really hear that.

Measure of a Man - it's just beautiful. I can't say anything else. One of the best on the album. Go Clay!

Touch - kind of weird, actually. It has a Latino/boy band techno feel to it...but it's Clay, and it's catchy, and I like it. Good song.

This CD is SO worth buying if you liked Clay even a little bit. It surpassed my expectations...I never expect to like every song on an album. This is the first time that I've listened to a CD probably 4 times in one night without wanting to skip a track. So support Clay!

Free Music Review: Clay soars....
Hit: 5 Stars

I truly enjoyed this CD. Yes...it doesn't have the oldies...no covers. But that is a good thing or they would be screaming he is only a cover boy. I want him to sing new music that distances himself from AI. He is forging his own path with his own material. The songs...like UM and Solitaire when they were first released were new songs...now decades and years latter they are classics...but first someone had to do them and introduce them...and when that happened they were pop songs then considered fluff...oh my..a Carpenter's song kind of thing.

We look back differently now. I can see some of these songs being looked back on in the same way by the current teens of today when they are middle aged like we are and the ones who were teens when BOTW and Solitaire were first first released.

This CD is bridging the gap between the current music scene and what he was on AI...he is growing as a performer. He isn't just what he was on AI...and he isn't the current music scene either. He is Clay. He isn't just Broadway sound...he isn't just his demos...he is what he is on that CD. No one stay static as a artist and Clay isn't doing that either....he is growing.

I hear versatality on this CD...sort of like Solitaire and Buttercup...you have the WYSYLM...and you have MOAM...two totally different songs in emotional pull and feeling. You have the latin Touch...where you feel like dancing...and thudding. You have Shine and Perfect Day that just make me smile because I hear his soul singing. And The Way...oh the Way makes me grin. The glory notes are there...in I Will Carry You and ISY...but it isn't the only thing in the song. It shows all facets of Clay's range and control in his singing.

Happy? Yes. I can see why they didn't include Solitaire...and I truly wanted it...but it just really didn't fit into the rythmn of the album at all. I really don't miss it when I listen to this album.

I can hear Clay's voice in here...the techno things were touches here and there...I love how on some of the songs I hear Clay in background vocals and then soaring in the main verse...going in and out like a round...

The caliber of song writing is not up to the standards of songs like Stairway to Heaven and others...but...at the same time the songs Clay has on his CD are good within the confines of the songs on the radio today.
