Free Music Notes for On My Way Here

Free Music Review: A CD for music lovers
Hit: 5 Stars

What a terrific CD. If you're already a fan, there are layers to each song that will touch your heart. But this CD isn't just for Clay's fans. I urge anybody who loves a great voice and songs with depth and meaning to give this one a chance. You will be blown away! The opening/title track, On My Way Here is a great song, written by Ryan Tedder and intepreted to perfection by Clay. Tracks like Ashes and Falling and Everything I Don't Need will have you bopping along before you can help yourself. You might just find yourself saying 'that's Clay Aiken'? And then he will reach into your chest and squeeze your heart with songs like The Real Me and As Long As We're Here. And you'll be saying oh yeah, that's Clay Aiken - and this guy can sing! But the real gem is the final song on the CD. Clay's lyric and David Foster's music combine to produce a true vocal masterpiece.

Free Music Review: Nice mix of styles
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are expecting an album more in line with Clay Aiken's last album A THOUSAND DIFFERENT WAYS which was more easy-listening, you will be in for a surprise. ON MY WAY HERE is more pop-driven, but with some stellar vocal work by Mr. Aiken. He nicely infused songs with slightly different styles from the R&Bish "Everything I Don't Need", the pop-rock "Ashes" and "Falling" to the jazzy "Something About Us". The album still has its share of ballads but feels much more contemporary than the last album. The title track is a ballad written by One Republic's Ryan Tedder. The stand out song is the poignant Aiken-penned "Lover All Alone". A couple of my other favorites are "Sacrificial Love", "Where I Draw the Line", and "As Long As We're Here". Overall this is a really solid album that I can see myself enjoying for years to come.

Free Music Review: A fine musician you are, Clay!
Hit: 5 Stars

It is an album designed to show Aiken's skills and talent. So much more soul in it comparing to his other works. It's about struggle and hope, we all face as we age.

Love his title song "On my way here". It is not an easy song to sing. Great phrasing and positioning words with the rhythm and melody which make this song lively and touching. It just shows how a skillful "musician" Aiken is becoming, besides his great voice. However, near the end of the song it sounded a bit dull while it should have been more exciting and moving. I wish he has varied the melody a bit to keep the repeated part fresh, with new music arrangement of the key raised half or one whole note after "I guess that is why", that would have made this song a master piece!!! But overall, I still love the song. Best wishes to you Clay!!

Free Music Review: Musical Creeation with Substance
Hit: 5 Stars

This ingenious album has something for everyone. It hits edgy (Ashes, Falling), bluesy (Everything I Don't Need), pop (The Weight of the World) Broadway (The Real Me, As Long as We're Here),contemporary (Grace of God)and 40's romantic (Something About Us). He has such control over his voice that the artistry can't help but be admired. Something About Us is the most romantic song I've ever heard. It's easy to imagine it as a theme song for a movie. I would love to have Grace of God released as a single. It adds such a unique slant on the plight of the unfortunate. Not judgmental, but hopeful. The title song encompasses the theme of the album which speaks of young adult growing experiences, searching for love and understanding of one's self. Clay Aiken is truly wise beyond his years.

Free Music Review: Beautiful mature vocals and sophisticated arrangements
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the album I was hoping for from Clay.
The complex melodies and sophisticated arrangements give his beautiful voice the platform it deserves.
The title song, 'On My Way Here', has a deceptively simple melody, but just like Pachelbel's Canon, it underscores that simple melody with unexpected chord progressions.
Several songs evoke an 'on the edge of tears' feeling. The lyrics and vocal delivery of 'Sacrificial Love' can bring back the sting of unrequited love.
The melody, lyrics and vocals on others, like 'Everything I Don't Need', are all about strengh and moving on.
Some songs, like 'Something About Us' are perfect for a slow dance reverie.
I'm looking forward to more albums of this quality in the future from Clay.
