Free Music Notes for The Way / SolitaireFree Music Review: Brilliant!!!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Clay Aiken's musical track record caused me to expect him to render a wonderful rendition of Solitaire. But what I didn't expect was the hair-raising, chill-producing, breath-taking, and tear-flowing beauty of this song. It is absolutly awesome, excellently arranged and, of course, Clay sings it so beautifully.I was listening to it as I was driving home. I had to stop my card because it was so awesome. I'm glad I was parked because Clay hit a glory note on 'solitaire' and held it for 17 seconds, and I cried, more glory notes followed - and I cried. When the song was over I just sat there and soaked in it's beauty. Clay's voice range is incredible - he has no problem with high glory notes and sounds equally as good when singing those beautiful deep notes. This single CD includes "The Way" my favorite from Clay's full CD "Measure of a Man", and "Solitaire" my new favorite. WOW! two favorites on one CD. It is a must-have for every music lover. I bought two on the day of release and will buy more to give away. I also recommend Clay Aiken's first Single CD "Bridge Over Troubled Water/This is the Night" and "Measure of a Man" They all are incredibly beautiful.
Free Music Review: GRAMMY WORTHY!!! Hit: 5 Stars
If Clay's recording of the Neil Sedaka masterpiece under the guidance of Clive Davis, does not get a Grammy nomination in at least one category, then there is truly no integrity left in the Academy. This is a suberb rendition which has brought grown men to tears in my presence. The orchestration, arrangement & masterful vocals are THE BEST THING that Clay has ever recorded in his short career, & he has many wonderful tracks from his pre-"Idol" days to his credit. I'm expecting great things from his Christmas album since the Grammy-winning legends Phil Ramone & Walter Afanasieff are producing it. He has already proven this recording is not a fluke with his heart-wrenching version of PROUD OF YOUR BOY on Disney's "Aladdin" DVD Special Edition. The opening track here, THE WAY, co-written by Enrique Iglesias, is from Clay's Triple Platinum debut CD & is a lovely if rather boy-bandish romantic tune. Clay's voice soars on the closing chorus, however, which ultimately lifts it above the standard love song. I don't know if an "Idol" alum can ever actually win a Grammy in today's elitist industry, but a nomination for SOLITAIRE is mandatory if anything the Recording Academy does is to have any credibility.
Free Music Review: Hands down winner! Hit: 5 Stars
True the "single" on this one may be "The Way" but the true shining star is "Solitare". Ever since Clay did it on American Idol, bringing tears to the eyes of its writer, Neil Sedaka, who claimed he has never heard his song done like this before, it became a fast favorite of mine. In fact it is because of the fan reaction from his Live performance that he finally released this version in completion. Clay's voice is raw and real on the tune. In comparison to his album, which I felt really toned his voice down, this song brings back the AI Clay that I was yearning for. There is no altering or synthesizing vocals here and it isn't needed. For once the producers got it right unlike so much other popular music right now. The only negative for "Solitare" is that it is probably way too slow for air time - even for the adult contemporary market which is where I always hear "Incredible" and "This Is The Night". It does tend to drag in tempo in comparison to the version done on American Idol but Clay lets loose with powerful chords and hauntingly deep notes throughout. You'd think this guy had been singing professionally for years. What a star indeed!
Free Music Review: TOO GOOD FOR AMERICAN IDOL Hit: 5 Stars
Clay's superb rendition of "Solitaire" proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that there WAS a conspiracy behind the scenes to give Ruben Studdard the title of American Idol. They did the right thing because by doing this, Clay Aiken has far surpassed any IDOL contestant in popularity, sales, dignity, personhood and above all else, talent!! This young man's vocal prowess is unlimited and his producers have yet to tap the reservoir of his artistic powers. Clay is much too good for garbage like "American Idol" which is why I vowed never to watch the series again after he lost????? (Hah!!!). No one can touch this guy. "Solitaire" is haunting...even with the faded out ending...which ordinarily I do not like...but it works in this case. The other song called "The Way" is great but the strength of this single is "Solitaire". You will play it over and over again and never get tired of hearing it. Fame doesn't last forever and Clay is savvy enough to know this. I just hope his producers give him more artistic freedom in his future endeavors that will prove to the world beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is indeed too good to be a mere american idol.
Free Music Review: A Vocal Masterpiece! Hit: 5 Stars
I have been a fan of Clay since the first time I heard him sing. Since then, he has continued to grow as a singer and a performer. I saw him on tour with American Idol last summer and he owned the show. I saw him live in Worcester, MA on tour, and he was amazing! He is even better live than on his Measure of a Man CD. He is a natural performer and could sing acapella and still bring down the house. He does not need any technical manipulation in the studio that most so called "singers" rely on today. The Way is a beautiful, romantic song and is my favorite song from the MOAM CD, but I must say that this newest rendition of Solitaire gave me goosebumps. Not only did he showcase that beautiful voice, but he showed his range in going from low to high notes in a way that seemed effortless. He showed that soft, sweet part of his voice along with those poweful pipes that he is famous for. He also holds this amazing, powerful note out for 15 glorious seconds! There is no male singer in this era that can do all that. The only thing better than this is being there to witness it live. I am looking forward to his next album and to seeing him live again if possible.
