Free Music Notes for The Way / SolitaireFree Music Review: Alternately Joyous and Gut-wrenching Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of the best purchases I've made since October, when I bought Aiken's full-length album, "Measure of a Man."The A-side to this single, "The Way," is one of my favorite cuts from the album. It's a classic love song (co-written by Enrique Iglesias) and Aiken's soaring vocals make it a sure hit with teens and grandparents alike. When Aiken sings lines like "I can't put my fingers on just what it is that makes me love you...don't ask me to describe, I get all choked up inside, just thinking 'bout the way," I get chills. The B-side, "Solitaire", is in a class by itself. I hesitate to call it a B-side...it's simply Track 2. Fans of "American Idol" will remember Aiken's stunning rendition from last season, and this updated, full-length version is simply spectacular. You CANNOT miss hearing this song. Showcases his range wonderfully and is filled with so much emotion, it's nearly impossible to believe that the singer is a 25-year-old man who claims to have never been in love. Run, don't walk, and pick up a copy. You won't regret it. You might regret only buying one.
Free Music Review: It makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought a copy of this single cd for myself. The Way is a great song, I enjoyed it very much. But Solitare is truly amazing! I had heard Clay Aiken sing a portion of Solitare on the American Idol 2 show back in 2003. Neil Sedaka was there and was brought to the brink of tears and said that it was no longer his song but that it was now a Clay Aiken song. After hearing that last year, I knew that I had to preorder Solitare as soon as it was announced. I am so very glad that I did. It is truly amazing and beyond what I had expected. I expected good, very good, but this recording surpasses that. This recording of Solitare is GREAT! I bought a second copy for myself as I knew that I would be playing it alot and wanted an extra copy should I wear the first one out. I also bought several to tuck inside the Easter Baskets that I made for a few friends. They loved the baskets and candy and colored eggs but all called me to tell me how much that they enjoyed the cd and how thankful they were to get them tucked inside their baskets. What more can I say? Nothing except this man, Clay Aiken truly raises the musical bar.
Free Music Review: At last the wait is over! Hit: 5 Stars
I have been waiting for a full length version of 'Solitaire' since Sedaka night on American Idol series two. Clay Aiken just blew me away with his performance of this classic that night. My expectations were very high and I wondered if anything could live up to them. I should learn to never doubt Aiken's ability to make a song his own. This is an amazing performance of 'Solitaire'! The soft intro lets the song build and the key shift into the last third is executed with the expressiveness and precision that usually is found only in much more seasoned performers. I was impatient and ordered from Amazon US since it came out a week earlier. I am so pleased with it that I've reordered copies from Amazon CA for several family and friends who also enjoy Clay's music. I had to ... they were ready to steal my copy! "The Way" is wonderful, also. It has been one of my favourite tracks on "Measure of a Man" since first hearing the CD in October! I bet a lot of weddings and proms will feature it this Spring. See that link over there ... the one that says 'Add to Basket". Click it. You won't be sorry.
Free Music Review: Clay is Magic Hit: 5 Stars
Being a life-long music lover of every genre, I was totally excited about the show American Idol, but never would I have imagined that someone would come out of that show that would move me the way Clay does. It's a wild ride. His tenor voice is amazingly powerful yet he can sing in the lower ranges and also has an endearing falsetto. Solitaire is the perfect song for him as it showcases all of the above. I've listened to it at least 50 times and it's simply amazing; it's what singing is supposed to be, pure, strong and from the heart. I happen to have a deep love of Judy Garland, she's one in a million and I never thought I'd be moved by another performer in the same way; yet when I watch Clay perform I'm drawn in to the same degree. I feel like a magnet is pulling me toward the TV or the stage, so at 31 I've finally really grasped what the word magnetism means and what it can do to a crowd of eager fans. Clay is simply magic and if anyone on the planet had somehow managed to miss that fact after he sang This Is The Night and Bridge Over Troubled Water..well here's another shot....Solitaire....a thing of beauty
Free Music Review: Ear-licious! Just as Neil Sedaka said! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this Cd because i had heard *The Way * ( the A side of this single) and loved the song. It is a romantic song with a wonderful message. Clay does it justice . This is sure to be a favorite during prom season and other romantic holidays. I knew that Solitare was to be on the B side. I heard Clay sing Solitare back when he performed it on AI2. At the time, I thought it was good but not one of my favorites. However, when i heard and saw him perform Solitare on AI3 i couldn't wait to get my CD. The way Clay performed the song on AI3 was outstanding. I could feel the words. And the glory note? Who does that anymore? Wow . I received my CD and the recorded version is just as good if not better. Instead of being an abbreviated version of the song ( like it was on AI3) you have 5 minutes of glorious singing. You can feel the song build to the very end note. How does this man do it? I had chills at the end of the song. I don't remember any singer touching my soul with his voice like Clay Aiken. This single is a must have. Hopefully this is just the beginning from this talented singer. Thank you Clay.
