I didn't watch Clay Aiken on American Idol 2, but "The Way" converted me to an Aiken fan when he performed it on television shows, as it's the kind of sweet, easy-listening love ballad that I enjoy, and Clay Aiken simply has a fantastic, crystal-clear voice that's rare in the industry today. As for "Solitaire", what I can say? I had previously ordered the CD-single not expecting much as I found "Solitaire" a bit monotonous. But after Clay Aiken performed the song on Idol 3, I was cursing Amazon for not having delivered my copy to me yet, because WOW is not a sufficient description of this rendition of the song. Aiken showcases his remarkable five-octave range here, his smooth tenor highlighted by dips into Elvis Presley-like smoky baritone, gorgeous high notes, and an unparalleled ability to hold a strong, clear note (fourteen seconds by my count). The full version of the song as recorded is 5:26 and allows the song to build slowly to its crowning glory in the last minute. Definitely one of Aiken's best recorded works and a song I can listen to over and over again.

"The Way/ Solitaire" is Clay Aiken's second single release since his debut album release "Measure of a Man". This set proves how tremendously talented he is. Such quality goes beyond winning second place in "American Idol 2". His voice has the passionate vibe that forces listeners to feel his every word. His work is flawless. Few other mainstream artists have such strong musical talents. This world needs more artists like Clay Aiken."The Way" is a great rock/pop power ballad taken from his debut album. The chemistry between the song and Clay Aiken is perfect. Whether he sings sensatively sweet or passionately loud, he stays on top on every note. "Solitaire", not on the album, is a great addition to this CD single. This cover song lives up to the original Neil Sedaka version. It offers listeners an extention of his talents. Such quality proves that he'll continue to entertain for a long time. Those pleased with this two-song set should also buy his album "Measure of a Man", which is sure to amaze many more listeners.

The Way/Solitaire two of my favorite songs, when I first listened to Measure of Man the Way was my favorite song, it really shows off Clay's beautiful voice. And Solitaire one Clay's best performances on American Idol he captured everyone's heart and sole on that one, that song really shows off what a range Clay has and how he can really hold those glory notes. I'll never forget what Neil Seika said after he finished singing, he said this is your song now. This is a Clay Aiken song.I love the new version on this cd all I can say is wow. What a beautiful rendition of this song and one thing about Clay when he sings a song he makes it his song and makes you feel like you never heard that song before. There is no other singer out there that has a voice like him, he puts his heart and soul into a song when he sings. You won't be disappointed in this cd and I suggest you buy Measure of man also.
Thanks Clay for giving us Solitaire, you never forget your fans, you always try to give us what we want. He knew how much his fans loved this song and he gave it to us. Thank you

this review is in response to someone who stated that there is only one age group that likes clay aiken and that clay is not on the same category as josh groban . my name is lorraine scheidemantle =indiana==i like josh groban as well ,but clay aiken is wonderful and in my family his fans start at age 7 to 76 of which i am the latter. clay aiken has a wonderful talent , beautiful voice ,a personality and sings from the heart and everyone who listens to him can feel his sincerity .evidently the person that wrote that review does not listen with an open heart ,if he did he would hear the beauty of both voices,josh groban as well as clay aiken ,when i listen to josh groban sing to where you are i listen with tears running down my face for it is as if he is singing of my greatest love who i lost 4 years ago after 55 years of marriage and when i hear clay sing the way it also moves me ,whoever you are that wrote that article please start listening with an open heart and mind and sign your name ,my name is lorraine scheidemantle --indiana 76 years of age,thank youFree Music Review: POWERFUL !!! In a word....TREMENDOUS!!! My entire family, friends...3 different states...on the edge of our seats last night...all waiting to hear Clay sing! And afterwards??? My phone didn't stop ringing for hours! Through tears of excitement and APPRECIATION for Clay and his POWERFUL voice....We expressed how much we truly LOVED & Admired this young MAN! And in reading some of the reviews here at Amazon, I can SEE AND HEAR how CLAY AIKEN has touched so MANY of US! and now Through the POWER OF THIS SONG!!!!! I, like you...believe that he sang his little heart out just for his FANS! AND LORD HAVE MERCY... DID HE EVER!!!!!
