Free Music Notes for In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3Free Music Review: concept album! Hit: 5 Stars
What can I say? I'm a sucker for a concept album!
Consider yourself warned: Claudio Sanchez sounds eerily like Geddy Lee(from Rush). Now not being a Rush fan, I immediately disliked Coheed and Cambria simply based on the singer's voice. However, upon reading an article on Coheed and Cambria in an issue of Guitar World magazine, my interest was caught---> it's a concept album (as was it's predecessor Second Stage Turbine Blade) which tells the continuing sage of Coheed and Cambria, fictional characters in a war-wrought realm, and the struggle for survival of their four children! I bought the album and read through the lyrics before I ever listened to the album and found myself in love. The story is magical and heart-wrenching and the writing is nearly flawless, and won me over before I even popped the album in my CD player. Coheed and Cambria are musically exceptional and endlessly creative, although there are times when they will remind one of other bands such as Tool or Rush. This album is solid, although three songs in the middle of the album fall into the world of gooey-poo(think Matchbox Twenty). Overall, it's a great listen and a good buy. Keep your eyes open also because Claudio is working on a comic book series to compliment the albums!

Amazing. I've never heard any music like this before. This is the first Coheed & Cambria album, I've heard, let alone owned. First impressions were, WTF?!?!?! Those intro and outro's will throw you off, but personally they grew on me. There are a couple things that really stand out to me as a band. First, its really hard to classify these guys into a genre, but if I had to it would be leaning towards the emo-punk realm. Another thing, that these guys are really talented, not only vocally but musicaly as well. These guys know how to rock it out. I'm suprised I had never heard of them before. Also, there are a few songs that are really long, like 7+ minutes, but its not a bad thing you hardly notice it when your listening to the tracks, which is cool cause there are a few songs that I just dont want to end when I'm listening to them. Okay, favorite tracks, I'd have to say Three Evils, The Crowing, and A Favor In House Atlantic, in that order. In conlusion, this album is a good solid, well writen and well produced album that will keep you putting your cd player on repeat. Definetly a must by for anyone that listens to emo-punk.
P.S. On a minor side note, this cd "bumps" on any good system. Excellent driving music.

Free Music Review: Moving and Nearly EPIC Hit: 5 Stars
"Coheed & Cambria" cannot easily be classified. They are a mixture of many genres- rock, metal, alternative, classical (yes), and punk. There is screaming in the background, poppy vocals and peppy tones- all mixed well together to carry out over epic songs.
It is very easy to get "lost" in this music. To listen and get transported to wherever it is that they are singing and playing from. In one song: "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3", it is easy to picture the war that they are singing about: "Man your battle stations! we'll have you dead pretty soon... Man your battle stations! we'll have you home pretty soon..."
It is very easy to just... flow with the music. To get wrapped up in it, letting it course through your veins and basically hypnotize you. "In Keeping Secrets" is definitely my favorite song on this album... but every single song is fan-f&ing-tastic! It is an amazing album. Unlike any other!
If you like punk music, but also like rock and metal, this album and this band is the perfect fit for you!
Free Music Review: Amazing. Perfection. Hit: 5 Stars
Coheed and Cambria is an amazingly unique and inspiring band. The only reason that they are not played on the radio constantly is because most of their songs are not repetative, and their music is not poppy and crowd pleasing to the standard attention deficit disorder audience. You may have to listen to each song a couple times to truly realize how incredible they all are. To those who make fun of the songs for their strange titles or lyrics, maybe do a little research. The concept albums have a great story to them. All three of their albums are fantastic, with this one being my favorite. Also, the Stardust DVD is one of the best live performances I have ever seen, period. You may not understand how talented Claudio is until you see him play an accoustic version of the song "The Light and The Glass" at the end of the DVD. I am not going to try and classify their music because there is no need. If you like good music, you will like Coheed and Cambria. Buy this album before the rest of the world realizes how good they are.
