Free Music Notes for Neverender: Children of the Fence Edition (Limited Edition 4 CD/5 DVD)Free Music Review: Perfect for the fans Hit: 5 Stars
This box set is fantastic. Coheed and Cambria really outdid themselves and put together something really special for their fans. Being one of those lucky fans, I was at all 4 nights in NYC and so having this box-set was a must-have for me. It did not disappoint!
The box set is very large and looks almost like a board game. The dragonfly is actually bigger than I expected, and the detailing is very cool.
The book has a collage of pictures of the band, tickets, old concert fliers and photos (I must digress....it was awesome to see the old Juliana Theory tour flier from when they played in Old Bridge...and the 2004 tour sticker with the bloody dragonfly...great shows!)
There's a section in the back for the "Children of the Fence" where, if you ordered during a certain period of time, your name would be in the book. If you did this, finding yourself among all the names is a great feeling! One among the fence!
Each of the 4 nights in Terminal 5 are on their own DVDs, as well as on CD. The DVDs are extremely well put-together. The sound quality is great, the way it is filmed reminds me of a movie or music video-awesome quality. There is also an 80 minute documentary that even for someone like me who has followed the band for 8 or so years, I learned new things about the band I never knew before!
There are also special scenes with all of the web casts they had done talking about toughest album to play, most fun album to play, etc. They were played online during Neverender on the band's website/myspace. The opening acts from Mic Todd, Richard Christy (I think that was his name), Davenport Cabinet, and Claudio introducing Night of Living Dead playing during NWFT are also on there, as well as some clips from the other 3 Neverenders (Chicago, LA, and London).
There are so many great things to say about this box set. Basically, if you are a fan of Coheed and Cambria, and you went to these shows...even if you didn't go to these shows but wanted to or wanted to feel like you're at a live show...this box set has it all and more. I laughed, I cried (not even a little ashamed to admit it...if you watch the documentary, you may shed a tear or two as well), I sang along. I love this box set. You will too!
Free Music Review: it's awesome. not much else to say, heh Hit: 5 Stars
but by god, i'm still gonna say as much as i can. i bought this about a week ago, which seems to have been a good decision, since i payed $20 less than the price it's currently at. i am probably among those who payed the least anyone will ever pay for this set. i received it without any missing disks or other problems, which apparently makes me somewhat lucky. the first dvd has some problems playing in my xbox (the intro and Time Consumer basically won't play at all; everything else is fine), but it's hardly the only dvd i own to have such problems. still, it's a shame, but not a problem with the set itself.
the first two shows are flawless renditions of their source materials, except that they include some impressive little flourishes (like a solo added to the end of Everything Evil). basically, they're perfect, couldn't ask for more (though i wonder why they're on two disks when the budget release of Neverender has them on one disk). i'm currently on disk three and it's still very good, but there's an additional percussionist and two female backup singers with the band now. i feel they detract from Welcome Home, though they do add interesting parts elsewhere. they're not necessary, but overall they're more good than bad. so that leaves me most of the way through night 3 and i've been impressed plenty of times and disappointed once. i haven't seen the documentary yet, but it's been pretty well covered by other reviews.
i torrented the audio before i ordered the set and it had me convinced to put down the $80 almost immediately. i've since replaced all the Coheed studio albums on my mp3 player with their live counterpart (primarily because i don't have space for both). needless to say, it's very good.
beyond that, the dragonfly that's included is really cool, as is the book, which i haven't thoroughly explored. for the Coheed and Cambria collector/obsessed, this is pretty much essential. everyone else should be very pleased with the more reasonably priced 2-disk release of Neverender, but you better decide which category you fall under before this set gets any more expensive.
Free Music Review: How boxsets should be done Hit: 5 Stars
I just recieved my Neverender: Children of the Fence boxset, and wow... its really beautiful. I didn't end up with one of the signed editions, but everything else is fantastic. I know some people had trouble getting all of the discs, and thats ridiculous, really, but mine had all 9 discs.
The box is huge and beautiful. the book is also really beautiful, although the binding looks fragile to me. I intend to keep it in good condition, and I dont think it would stand up to much handling, so its back in the box to stay, I think. Still, its very nice. The dragonfly is simply amazing. Its huge and incredible and just a wonderful additional trinket in an already wonderful collection of Coheed and Cambria goodness.
I've only listened to part of the first audio disc, and I havent seen the DVDs yet, but I know these guys rawk, and the performances will no doubt be outstanding and entertaining. All in all, this was totally worth the money, and if you're a Coheed and Cambria fan, you will no doubt later regret it if you don't grab one now.
Free Music Review: Phenomenal collection from an awesome band Hit: 5 Stars
This collection is probably one of the single greatest live music DVD releases from any band. Being able to see every track from every album performed live is incredible. It was worth every single cent I spent on it. I wish more bands/musicians would do things like this.
My only complaint with the collection is a very minor one. With all the previous Coheed DVDs, we've gotten their music videos as bonus features. That's not the case with this collection. The only videos not currently available on DVD are the ones from the No World For Tomorrow album, The Running Free, Feathers, and Gravemakers and Gunslingers. And I know that at least Feathers had a making-of featurette. I hope these videos will be released on DVD at some point in the future.
Neverender is amazing, and even without the music videos it's worth way more than whatever Amazon is charging for it.
Free Music Review: Neverending Live footage!!! Hit: 5 Stars
If you like Coheed and cambria, you will love this dvd set it comes with 2 discs that contain 4 nights for the 4 albums they made and they play every allbim from beginning to end, first album on the first night and so on. It's pretty much every song this band has produced shown to you live now is that not a treat or what. That isn't it though killer guitar solos, killer jams, Claudio sanchez brings out his dual neck guitar to play welcome home, little did anyone know he'd pop the guitar behind is back and make everyone go through puberty again, not to mention the jam with that flipping wah machine and claudio playing the guitar with his teeth, but wait don't forget chris pennies intense drum solo that willl make you still in disbelief that you just witnessed somehthing like this. BUt thats not it i only told you about one night three nights left to go and it only gets better
