Free Music Review: First impressions are not always the best...
Hit: 5 Stars

Coheed is awesome. I admit, i shyed away from them after hearing delirum trigger the first time on the warped comp (i love that song now.) But now they are amongst my top 3 fave bands. OK now Coheed's sound...ummmm...the best i can give is Geddy Lee of Rush singing with an organized At the Drive In patched up with everything good about 80s hair metal (which isn't much.) But that doesn't do the band justice...nobody does what they do. The story. well Coheed and Cambria are the two main characters in the story and this 4 part quest will be depicted in 5 CDs (i'll explain.) Second Stage Turbine is the first release but is the second part in the story (hence Second Stage) and the second release is title In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3 but is part 3 with parts 1 and 4 (which will be in 2 parts) to be released later(get it? star wars?)Now to the album. I like this one slightly better than In Keeping Secrets but that's due to like one song...Neverender. This is the best song on the album in my humble opinion. Those new to Coheed might want to try Devil In Jersey City first...a more punk oriented song. Everything Evil, Delirium Trigger, Hearshot Kid Disaster, and Godsend Conspirator are other greats. Junesong and 33 are pretty good songs as well, but the other ones just own. All in all...great album, one of my top 3. in closing, i just want you to give coheed more than one chance, listen to the music, enjoy claudio's voice, you won't regret it.

Free Music Review: An ok debut
Hit: 5 Stars

There are definately some standout tracks on this album. The first song (not the intro) "Time Consumer" is definately one of my favorites. Song number two "Devil in Jersey City" is pretty cool at the beginning and breaks down a bit in the chorus, and the third song "Everything Evil" is a bit slow at the beginning and then is amazing at the end with a great sing-along chorus.

The next few songs are skip-able, nothing really great. The last three songs really pick up from the slowness of the middle of the album and are definately worthy of repeat listens. The hidden song at the end of the last track is really pretty good and exemplifies what Coheed can do with just a guitar, a mic, and some electronics.

For the most part the songs that I don't like on the album have a bit too much of an emo/indie feel to them, they might be called "rock" songs, but they don't really rock.

As an aside, I can't believe that this album has such a high rating on Amazon, I guess it just shows that people repeatedly over-rate things. I like this album and I like Coheed, but geez, you really need to give an honest review of an album, just because you like it doesn't mean you should give it 5 stars when it doesn't deserve 5 stars.

EDIT: Ok, I didn't give this album 5 stars, it should be 4 at best and really deserves to be between the 3 and 4 range, but apparently I hit the wrong button and now I can't change it.

Free Music Review: Freakin Awesome!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I was in my friend's car one day and he turned on the cd player and this absolutely amazing band was playing...when they started off, i thought claudio's voice was a little weird but it grew on my fast...after the first song, i immediately asked who it was...when i got home i downloaded some of their stuff and oh geez it was all great!!i immediately burned a copy of this cd(i am so sorry, i had no money!!! but i have a store bought copy now)...it did not leave my car cd player for quite a while...and the only reason it did was because i went out of town and need some music for the plane trip...i am absolutely in love with this band...they have completely brought a spectacular sound to music...i havent gotten such a great feeling from listening to a band in quite a while....today's music has been going downhill at a rapid rate lately and this band has totally put faith back into me that there are still some good undiscovered talents out there...not all hope is lost!!! if im not playing this cd then i am playing their other more recent one...however i cant say that this band is for everyone but i would defintely suggest checking it out because u will either be hooked or hate it...there is no in between...but just dont give up if u dont like it on the first run thru...Keep rockin guys!!! Your Awesome!!!

Free Music Review: Simply stunning
Hit: 5 Stars

It is a rare instance that one can call a CD beautiful, but this does an excellent job at it.

For those of you who don't know; Second Stage Turbine Blade follows the second portion of a story lead singer, Claudio Sanchez has written.

The story is documented in a few comic books (I'm not exactly sure how many there are. 2 or 3, for now I think.) I strongly reccomend reading those as they explain the sometimes strange lyrics of the CD.

I won't bother going into my thoughts on all of the songs each, because the album has to be listened to as a whole.

I will say, however, that Claudio Sanchez' voice fascinates me like no other. It can be completely childish when he wants it to be and very brooding otherwise. I know a lot of people don't like his voice due to the fact that it's high pitched, but I really think it adds a lot of character to the music.

Most of the songs go beyond 3 minutes, which can be a turn off for some people, but the songs on all 3 of their albums switch tempos, and key signatures so frequently that there isn't a dull moment.

Though this album sounds a whole lot different than their next 2, this is personally my favorite from them. I strongly reccomend this to anyone looking for something fresh.

Free Music Review: Simply Amazing
Hit: 5 Stars

At my first listen i was taken aback, was the singer a guy or girl? It could have went either way, but the music along with the intresting and complex lyrics held on. Then i realized before i knew it i was singing along to Claudio's amazing voice, it really does grow on you. The lyrics are the story to a sci-fi project Claudio is working on, each song is like a story, while many parts are confusing when he sings the lines they sound beautiful.
To my excitment i saw that Co&Ca were playing near me, i went out and bought my tickets. Claudio had some sort of infection so they only played five songs, but for being sick Claudio and the rest of the insanely talented put on one of the best lives shows i have ever had the pleasure to witness. It was simply amazing. Even the new song was very good.
This will be the best cd of 2002 hands down, and if by some miracle something comes along and is better, then not only will i be shocked but excited as well, becuase as of right now i cannot stop listening to the cd. And for another band to come along and rivial that, well who wouldn't want two great bands? But do not look for any cd this year to come close to "The Second Stage Turbine Blade"
