Free Music Review: A Beautiful Start to a Beautiful Band

I clearly recall buying this tape at a used record store in '91 and thinking to myself, "This is what I've been looking for and I never knew it." Coil is not an easy band but this is probably their most accessible album. And for anyone looking to get into the Coil library at some juncture, I'd say, start here. This is not an album of esoteric noise or drones to be appreciated by those who know Coil's work. This is a classic work of songs that begin and end in "normal" fashion. This is not goth, electronic, noise or industrial per se but it does contain a bit of each. It may be the most un-Coil album and yet, one of their finest.
Sadly, from the prices listed, Horse Rotorvator does not seem to be in print. If you don't know Coil, spending upwards of $60 is a lot to ask. For those who need this album to further their collection, get it. Then again, if you're a collector of Coil's work, you probably have this.
Horse Rotorvator is undoubtedly Coil but this may be the album where you can start turning some of your more mainstream friends into the stranger, darker, more Coil side of living.
